'Leading the race' for a good player 13:11 - May 16 with 914 viewsCheltenham_Blue

Takes me back to when we were going after the likes of Ryan Shawcross and Charlie Austin.
Only this time Clegg isn't doing the negotiating and Evans isn't hiding his wallet.

Could be how we should have done it in the first place.

In fairness to Paul Jewell, he knew a player, he just didn't have the network around him as he did at Wigan

He's probably better suited to being involved in transfers and scouting rather than the management side of things

We were also linked with Ward who has been a virtually permanent fixture at right back for Palace over the years

Matt Ritchie, another player who's a decent player

Henderson who would have been a solid enough keeper

Paul Caddis who would have been a solid Championship player and one or two others who's name escape me

Alcohol is the answer but I can't remember the question!

Jewell signed a lot us duds but to his credit, he did leave us with Chambers and Cresswell - it could've been a few more decent players had Clegg not been a clown in negotiations. Keane's signings were pretty much all rubbish. Edwards and Leadbitter weren't but we paid massively over the odds for both.
