Lagos......this looks terrible :( on 21:40 - May 26 with 1057 views | bluelagos | Is what it is. Been on a trackday at Thruxton today and only heard the news when I got in an hour ago and turned my phone on. A family lawyer had told me he didnt think they would be found guilty so had not bothered to follow it closely. That the police can legally mislead a public inquiry and inquests into the deaths of people who they were responsible for killing....rather sums up our justice system and how they are above the law. Is anyone surprised? If you are then you shouldn't be.

Lagos......this looks terrible :( on 22:07 - May 26 with 990 views | lightuser | Ffs. So a public inquiry is not a court of law and you can lie as much as you want when you present or withold any "evidence". Makes them a bit pointless and a waste of time especially that it's tax payers money being abused. Seems they should all be abandoned and never held again beause you are never going to get to the "the truth of the matter"? Utterly disgraceful. [Post edited 26 May 2021 22:10]

Either that or those holding public inquiries should take the stance that anyone with a vested interest cannot be trusted to give impartial unaltered evidence and that evidence should be weighted accordingly. Or maybe there should be laws brought in that do cover altering evidence in such situations? I trust that the people who were involved will face justice beyond this life but it is disgraceful how they have evaded it this side of the grave.

"weighted accordingly" surely makes the whole proceedings outside of an actual court trial pointless and a waste of money? I agree that presenting evidence at a judge led public enquiry should be held to a lawful standard and I am surprised that that is not already the case !!

If it had been a statutory public inquiry then it would be different. The inquiry in question was not statutory, and that is why they cannot be convicted of perverting the course of justice. Why a statutory inquiry was not held, I do not know. But inquiries can be very useful. Grenfell, for example.

"Why a statutory inquiry was not held, I do not know". Although I think that in this particular case people can now make a pretty good guess why it was not...
