The strength of the signal is usually only concerned with distance (and then you get a mesh network). The number of devices shouldn't affect the strength, are you sure you don't mean increase your bandwidth?
What's the specific problem?

Can anyone recommend a WIFI booster? on 09:57 - Jun 13 with 813 views
I have one of these, it is hard wired (cat 5 cable) to your router so able to handle higher traffic load, quite easy to set up and it take the same password to use as you router wifi.
I also one of these, they are very good at extending range but does not add to capacity as it connects via the router wifi so suffers the same restrictions on wifi bandwidth.

For ease of setup and operation the Google WiFi devices I have are excellent. It depends on the size and layout of your house as to how many units you need, but it uses mesh technology to link them together. This means you put the first next to your broadband router (whose wireless you turn off) and then dot other units in strategic places that "mesh" together using wireless to pass the signal throughout the building (the unit must still have a half decent connection to the base unit). The mesh is the same SSID network, so as you move around the house you remain connected to the same wireless. The Google extras include safe DNS, to stop kids getting to "bad" sites and connection time controls, so you can turn off connectivity for certain devices at bedtime.
Other devices do mesh networks, so my recommendation is that rather than individual extensions each having a unique wireless or the Google devices specifically.

Yeah, I'm not an expert in these things! Had a few issues lately with internet dropping, Zoom calls getting choppy etc. I've found turning off things like Echo Dots and other WIFI speakers helps, so I thought there was something you could get to boost your signal.

That might be signal clashing with your neighbours on an older 2.4Ghz wireless router, or insufficient bandwidth. Go do an Ookla speedtest (Google it for the link) and post what it reports on an average of three tests at different times (eg Sunday night the internet tends to be slower in residential areas).
