Excitement. 21:02 - Jun 27 with 1412 views | OwainG1992 | Simple post really, But how refreshing is this to have players who are better than what we had before signing/being linked. Fair play to Ashton/Cook etc because they are going for it. The ownership group is clearly backing them. Lovely stuff!

For me I am linking the age of players we are buying, hopefully they will be good enough But for last few seasons we have had too many young ones combined with too old

Excitement. on 08:23 - Jun 28 with 902 views | Churchman | I think what is refreshing is that they are trying to do what they said they would do. They promised to put in structure. They’re doing it. They promised better players. They’re doing it. I saw somebody painting the North Stand roof the other week. I’m amazed the old stadium didn’t flee down the road in shock. Alan Lee in his podcast was right. The club became dishonest internally and to the supporters. Five year plan under Evans? AL confirmed there was no plan at all. Just lies. Managers appointed because they said yes to anything a man whose football knowledge could be written on a postage stamp. An ambition free shambles from top to bottom, dismantled piece by piece to save the Portfolio money. The club is now run by football people. The difference is under three months is considerable. It may all end in tears if success doesn’t come quickly and the owners get cold feet, but at least they’re giving it a proper go and I’ll settle for that.

I’m reasonably confident it won’t end badly, they make no bones about wanting to be in the PL and yes it COULD happen in 3 seasons but they are realistic and realise it’s going to take several years mainly to shake off this losing mentality that had infected every inch of our club ( bar the ladies sides! )

I agree about pace, desire and workrate. The only misgivings I have are goals. According to my calculations, the four new players scored 11 goals between them last season in 116 games. Nevertheless, I think the pace, desire and workrate should lead to much more chances and so goals. And for the first time in over 50 years I have bought a season ticket.

I'd like to see what Norwood can do with that better service.

We've seen that Norwood can score goals and it's often missed by our supporters that given time on the pitch he can score relatively often, but did have an injury hit season, amazing how youngsters get a free ride on injuries, but an older player gets one and they're apparently done for. We can't possibly score less than last season can we! (can we?)

Bang on Churchers. The excoriating Alan Lee podcast confirmed what most supporters kinda knew but many didn't want to really know meant in reality (me included to an extent)... the lack of accountability, meaning since McCarthy's departure especially, a culture of cronyism and jobs for the boys with no proper goals (excuse the pun) except some very nebulous stuff about playing out from the back, er, and getting promoted. Damning stuff, and blame 100% at Evans' door, regardless of anyone's opinions about Mick or even Hurst. Lambert bluffed and blagged for far too long and doesn't get the same pass in my eyes as Hurst, but that's purely subjective opinion.

Excitement. on 09:09 - Jun 28 with 641 views | ElephantintheRoom | I remember similar positivity about Hurst's signings - and dismembering of a team probably more successful than anything he had managed previously. I'm not sure where you get your belief from the new players being better than the outgoing disillusioned and unwanted group - other than thin air? Certainly they might be fitter, if the myriad of backroom staff can find enough players to work with. It could work - but given Cook's approach last season - I'm not holding my breath overly.

Positivity about Hurst's transfer business = football fans in not knowing much shocker. People kept banging on that Hurst was a breath of fresh air. Utter nonsense, and there were plenty saying so at the time. He was clearly completely out of his depth from the off, and only the most vociferous Mick hater (bizarre, but ho hum... and for the record again and again and again, I thought his time was up as well) would put their head in the sand and not see it.
