In my opinion all quite average players. Would any of them walk into top half division 1 teams. I have my doubts. Are we serious promotion contenders with this lot (even for next season)??

I presume Harper could go out on loan by midnight. We lack cover if a couple of centre backs go down and have no faith in Penney at left wing back (guess it’s early days for Thompson). Edwards at wing back could be interesting though think he lacks the knowledge to defend; can’t see how he fits into McKenna’s system. | |

We are 8th in the league.
None of our squad players are "walking into top half division 1 teams" regardless of whether Division 1 means the Premier League, the Championship or League 1. If they were going to, they would be walking into our team!
What we need is a manager who can make a team out of our squad. A manager who can get us around 2 ppg. Any idea where we might find a manager who could manage something like that? |  |

What I'm trying to say is that the difference in quality between some of the first team and the fringe players is significant.
If we lose Walton, any of the defenders, Morsy, Burns, Celina, Bonne due to injury or suspension, we will struggle with their replacements. As has been recently proved with Burns and Morsy.
And if we don't get the loan players on permanent deals before next season then our first team is going to look quite weak.
I hope McKenna can get us around 2 ppg. But when we have so few shots on target in certain games it doesn't inspire confidence he can do that. Hopefully he will prove me wrong. But Morsy and Evans aren't the main creators of chances for the team, so their absence doesn't excuse zero shots on target at Sheffield Wednesday in my eyes. Defeat is acceptable but not testing their keeper isn't. | | | |
