Interesting piece on the Soviet invasion of Finland on 15:37 - Feb 16 with 786 views | WeWereZombies | If you are ever in Helsinki it is worth a visit to the State Museum to see the archive film of the Finns battling the Soviets, those Finnish troops are relentless in a way we normally think of the Russians, Stalingrad and all that. You then have to reflect that this was [later] done with Nazi backing and led to the only instance I know of where two genuine democracies engaged in a declaration of war. Finland, of course was the subject of the declaration but who was the aggressor? [Post edited 16 Feb 2022 15:45]

Interesting piece on the Soviet invasion of Finland on 15:53 - Feb 16 with 730 views | Churchman | This is worth reading. I knew of the Finland winter war. In principle Britain could have wound up warring with Russia at that point. I hadn’t realised Stalin had used the dear old false flag method. The classic was the Nazis on Poland in 1939. From Wiki: ‘To make the attack seem more convincing, the Gestapo executed Franciszek Honiok, a 43-year-old unmarried Upper Silesian Catholic farmer, known for sympathising with the Poles. He had been arrested the previous day by the Gestapo and dressed to look like a saboteur, then rendered unconscious by an injection of drugs, then killed by gunshot wounds. Honiok was left dead at the scene so that he appeared to have been killed while attacking the station. His corpse was then presented to the police and press as proof of the attack. Several prisoners from the Dachau concentration camp were drugged, shot dead on the site and their faces disfigured to make identification impossible. The Germans referred to them by the code phrase "Konserve" (canned goods)’. Does anyone think Putin wouldn’t be capable of such stuff after what he’s been up to in the last 20 years?

Presumably the UK declared war on Finland when they threw their lot in with Germany.

Was listening to a review of this book which contains fascinating information on the battle. https://www.amazon.co.uk/Finnish-Soviet-Winter-War-1939-40-Campaign/dp/147284396 Apparently while the Soviet solders froze, the Finns were relaxing in portable sauna's! From 37:40 to end. https://pod.radiocms.net/radio-cms/uploads/2022/01/30133949/TH-Podcast-30-Jan-20
