Match Attax vs Panini Adrenylyn cards.... 12:06 - Mar 2 with 2689 views | itfcjoe | ....my Nephew is obsessed with football at the moment, and wants to start collecting some cards. Is there one of these which is much better than the other for those with kids, or is it just much of a muchness?

Match Attax vs Panini Adrenylyn cards.... on 12:14 - Mar 2 with 2648 views | ArnoldMoorhen | It's a long time since my sons collected Match Attax, but the first thing I would do is research: 1) How many cards there are in total for each collection. 2) The number of "Rare" and "Super Rare" cards, and their distribution, in each collection. 3) Try and calculate the total cost of the whole collection. My guess is that it will run into hundreds of pounds. 4) Consider whether you are better buying him kit, good boots and an "as seen on Match of the Day" football instead. Maybe some tickets to a match... 5) If you think it is worth going ahead, and this is the really important one, find out which of the two his friends collect. Because then he will be able to swap, which keeps the costs down, makes it a social hobby rather than solitary obsession, and also gives him a brain-training workout.

My boy did Match Attax a couple of seasons ago and you're right - completing it did run into many hundreds, to my shame. At a guess between £600-£900 and that was with the aid of buying some of the rare cards as online singles (which back then could cost up to £15 a head). We got so many doubles of value that I briefly tried flogging them myself. We even went to a match attax convention at Spurs and couldn't even get in cos the queue was so long.

Thanks for considered response AM, appreciate that - I'll come back on points below... 1 - Absolutely loads - both over 500 which is mental 2 -From what I read the Limited Edition Panini cards aren't in packets, they have to be got from elsewhere 3 - I'd rather not at the moment as is terrifying - but ultimately my sister's problem and she can afford it! 4 - I have done most of this already, but he just wants more! Everything he wants to do is football, watch on YouTube, read about etc - he's only 7 so just want something to help him along a bit 5 - Sadly none, he goes to a small village school and think only about 30 kids in whole school and none into it. I can get my boys some cards so he has someone to trade with but hopefully he can find someone else in time

Yes, I really regret it tbh. These things are like kid-crack - once the boy started, there was no stopping. Funnily enough buying him an xbox helped for a while until he discovered the online version of these cards on Fifa Fut!

Match Attax vs Panini Adrenylyn cards.... on 13:21 - Mar 2 with 2517 views | ITFCson | The Andrenyln cards are phasing out atm and now it's onto the stickers. Like you my son absolutely loves it and we are getting the cards ATM but we're a bit late to the party and most shops don't have the cards. It's either the stickers or match Attax cards. It can get expensive but with the opportunity of the rare cards I quite enjoy the excitement myself!! I have lots of swaps for the Andrenyln cards willing to trade if that helps.....
