Cometh the hour cometh the McKenna.. big game hunting 08:01 - Mar 12 with 1459 viewsunstableblue

Time to take the huge improvements in style, shape, discipline and passing into a BIG performance against a decent team.

McKenna against play-off rivals… P4 W1 D1 L2

And Pompey are bang in form, and with their 2 games in hand real play off contenders.

We’ll know a lot more about how far we’ve come, and how far we can push this season come 5pm.

Sing your hearts out lads, especially North Stand lower which bar blue action has been poor of late.

I actually think we’ve made a huge amount of progress, regardless of today. We are bound to come up short at some point, but that doesn’t negate which way we are going as a club or the team itself.

I am loving life under McKenna, and some of the football in recent games has been what I’ve hoping from Ipswich for what feels like over a decade. Take some of the moves in the first half on Tuesday, just moving the ball so well.

But today is going to be a difficult and different test. We blew them away second half at Fratton half for what I think was one of the best 45mins of our season. BUT, Pompey were very poor. And they are now a different proposition. They are wining and scoring and beating the like of Oxford. Yes Harness is suspended but Hirst seems the in form striker.

And despite Lincoln staring with their tales up on Tuesday, we’ve not been playing decent teams of late. A team that will be backed by 2000 away fans.

I also think it’s going to be interesting to see how we fare with no Burns or Burns with a knock; we are somewhat reliant on him, that pace that outlet. And it’s so good that a Celina and Jackson partnership and outlet is emerging.

Such a shame we are breaking up the 3 centre backs… they have been absolutely immense! And would have loved to have seen them up against a better attack today. I am sure Burgess will step forward, more nonsense style. But as he showed in his first two games, he is good. Shows the importance of squad. A squad depth that may make the difference on the run in.

It’s the middle and Pioneer side sections of the Lower North that are the problem.

They don’t seem to feed off the Blue Action songs - as I agree some of these just aren’t strong/familiar enough…. And they don’t start any themselves. It’s just seems it’s hundreds of people spectating, watching on, not participating and urging our boys on.

Come on people - get vocal!!! Today is huge

They will certainly be a tougher prospect than we have faced of late.

Yes, they have beaten Oxford. The other victories in their current run were against Burton, Doncaster, Shrewsbury, Accrington and Crewe. Although scoring four against Accrington while playing most of the match with ten men should not be taken lightly.

don't get the why are we worried about Portsmouth attitude, were at home, better players better team, better set up, fear factor they've won six out of seven, apart from Oxford in there shaky period, they haven't beaten much, not worried at all here, injuries or no injuries this will be done by half time, you will see Lincoln were as good as them,

Love it Bill.

And that’s what we all hope and have significant evidence to believe. McKenna sets us up better and we have the better players.

And we have the words of the Lincoln manager Appleton in our ears, that we are the best team in the league by far!!

Let’s hope it’s proven to be true.

Yes, but they are the biggest club in the South outside of London and will probably be bringing 500 busloads of supporters....

I'm one of the people who was blamed for getting Paul Cook sacked. PM for the full post.

Didn't get the win, we need a class striker, but they were exactly what I thought they were, done a job sat behind the ball and nothing to fear, probably end up higher than us with the games in hand, our season was ruined by mid October, next season will be a celebration,
