That is looking like a really good appointment.

Interesting to compare and contrast with Eddie Howe

Yep, looks like a lucky escape. Gerrard looks like a better bet, and has done it with some grace.

Gerrard's been more strategic in his choice of club, Rangers were getting closer to the top and Celtic were on a bit of a slide when he took over, obviously done very well there but he timed that perfectly.

He also took over Villa at a low ebb, and given the investment they had, he has a real chance to push them on and further his credentials.

Lampard needed to serve his time someone before going to Chelsea.

Odd isn't it? You probably wouldn't have thought so when they were players, but Gerrard has turned out to be smarter and more thoughtful than Lampard.

Everyone, as in Evans once and Gamechanger recently?

The rest of us couldn't care less. Did alright at Derby, jumped ship too early, Chelsea didn't give him time, and is now on the merrygoround for the remainder of his future.

Everton was an absolute basket before he arrived though.

Gerrard clearly wants the Liverpool gig at somepoint, but knows in order to do so it has to be done on merit, not just name, so you can see why he has taken the jobs he has to give him the best possible platform to succeed.

Lampard's career looks like a scattergun approach, which as you say, is strange given Franks knowledge and intelligence.

Who knows, he might get things right at Everton and in a years time, after a summer of change and significant investment he could get them going, but it's a tough ask, and one he really didn't need to take.

Everton is a cursed club.

Even Ancelotti couldn't do much with them.

They've wasted so much money over recent years.

If they get relegated, which is really quite likely, I can't see him surviving, can you?
If they stay up there would be no shortage of decent managers who would turn them down. Sean Dyche for one.

How so ? I always thought Gerrard was the more thoughtful of the two, so more likely to succeed as a manager, he captained Liverpool sides that weren't that blessed with lots of talent and changed games outcomes in their favour.

Lampard at Chelsea, well John Terry was considered a better captain of the team, maybe Lampard scored more goals than Gerrard from midfield but those skills don't translate to being a manager and he wouldn't even have been on the shortlist for any managers jobs without his name & Redknapps presence

I had thought that Gerrard was about instinct and emotion.
