I have to be honest that I didn't really know anything about sepsis until both my wife and newborn were put onto sepsis pathways immediately after a difficult birth. Was very grateful for the NHS after reading up on Sepsis while both slept.

As with Sikamikanico, I wasn’t aware of sepsis until a close member of the family lost their life with this awful illness.

I recommend watching the video BlueBadger has provided. Hopefully the knowledge won’t be needed but recognising the symptoms quickly is important.

The Archers radio soap also did a very good job of raising awareness about 2 or 3 years ago, when playing out a main character's ("Nic") rapid death from sepsis (via scratch with rusty nail).

This unnecessary death led to a change in the abortion law in Ireland.

That is a tragic story.
