Dean Wright articles 13:45 - Dec 14 with 1103 viewsVic

I just want to say that I've really enjoyed reading those interviews with Dean. They are long and detailed but it sounds like the ducks are starting to be put in a row and the progression pathway is clear. Plus the news that scouts (or modern equivalent!) are being recruited - all is looking good.

This isn't to knock the hard work that has been done in the past, but like everything else at the club, the development and academy side of things seems to be being overhauled and updated.

I hope that KD, for all his frustrations, is pleased with the intentionality shown in this part of the club. I'm glad that Klug is still around. Sounds like he's not so hands on, but I like the continuity of his involvement. That said, I suspect he'll go sometime over the next year.

Poll: Right now, who would you rather have as Prime Minister?

I agree with Vic on this. The interviews are interesting and I get the impression that the club is taking youth development seriously with its recruitment, scouting plans etc.

I did wonder whether they’d abandon it altogether at one stage. That’s clearly not the case. The interviews with Lee and Dyer 18 months ago were quite revealing on how the academy had been neglected under Evans.

Onwards and upwards.

Let’s be blunt!

I don’t think there was any aspect of the club that wasn’t neglected by Evans, as has been highlighted by the massive amount of work having to be done by the new owners.

Bringing on our own players was always the Ipswich way and if the Academy can flourish again it can only be good for the club as a whole.
