Not good enough today - a few thoughts 17:18 - Jan 2 with 1257 views | Dubtractor | Harness was well off it today, couldn't trap a bag of cement, and probably his worst performance for us. Greg Leigh looks a major downgrade from Davis in the system we play - he was fine, but that's the extent of it, and he offers nothing like the attacking threat of Davis. Another disappointing effort from Edwards - he has the tools, but just seems unable to really use them. We so badly need an upgrade at centre forward. Both Jackson and Ladapo worked hard today, but neither looked remotely like scoring, and Ladapo had a couple of very good chances to do so. We look instantly much better when Chaplin is on the pitch, he is positive in everything he does, and he can do the quick instinctive passing in a way that our other attacking midfielders can't. Morsy and Evans absolutely bossed the midfield, keeping those 2 fit and available will be key for us. Lincoln are a pointless horrible team, who barely seem interested in trying to win the game, but there are lots more of them in this division and we need to get better at beating them. We're still well placed, but we really need to get some extra quality into the centre forward position.

Not good enough today - a few thoughts on 17:24 - Jan 2 with 1187 views | ITFCBlues | Agree with most of that. Leigh I thought was poor. Was culpable for the first goal, allowing them the chance to get up the pitch by continuously heading the ball out for throws. We still struggle to break these defences down that sit deep. 2nd half there was just no urgency. So slow on the ball, happy got Wolfy and Burgess to pass amongst themselves. Only when they scored did we try and speed things up. Worrying signs. We've been poor for a while now with the exception of Oxford game. Look fragile at the back and teams know how to defend against us.

Someone had to say it! I would stress that I'm still positive about the season, and these comments are a reflection of the game today.

Not good enough today - a few thoughts on 17:38 - Jan 2 with 1008 views | Steve_M | Evans and Morse were part of our problem second half though, they are so dominant they want to do too much on the ball which is part of our problem overplaying it. Our decision making from when we equalised was really poor, not just those two but collectively. Given the injuries and illness then to get to this point only just off the top two isn't dreadful but it's highly disappointing, so many points dropped. It's ridiculous that we've conceded from nearly every chance in our last three away games, partly because we restrict the opposition from creating much well but we are so sloppy at the moment. That's five points it's cost us at least from three difficult trips. And despite all of that it was, yet again, not taking chances that cost us: Evans and Wolfenden should have scored, as should Ladapo a couple of times. I would like to see the Harness 'goal' again as I wasn't sure Burns was offside there. It was clear in the Summer that we wanted another forward and Ahadme was never the intended player, nothing has changed in that regard and the injury to TJJ definitely leaves us short of a very good option. A big month coming up, the lack of a league match next week may not be the worst thing now.

Not good enough today - a few thoughts on 17:41 - Jan 2 with 951 views | cbower | A pretty perfect summary. Leigh's attacking threat was negligible. Some will rave over Jackson's workrate but what else does he bring? To have him as the starting striker against an almost certain low block team doesn't cut it. I like Ladapo but his finishing is poor. Edwards, he is not producing enough at all. A goalscorer would be in the mid teens by now.

First paragraph: spot on. We do not need new strikers, we need attacking midfield players who create rather than hold. | | | | Login to get fewer ads

Despite not playing especially well overall, we had the chances to win comfortably, and we can't keep missing chances and expect to win games.

Not good enough today - a few thoughts on 17:53 - Jan 2 with 847 views | LankHenners | Agree with all that pretty much. Leigh certainly tired in the 2nd half and nowhere near as dynamic as Davis going forwards, the latter would have really helped today (not that we *should* have needed him). Will bring up again it's a real shame TJJ is injured as he, for me, was looking like our most dangerous forward option along with Chaplin, who I agree has to be playing as much as he can. Mentioned on another thread Morsy and Evans are almost so determined to control the game that they are most guilty for our issue of overplaying. As you say Lincoln did what a lot of teams do in this division and it'll only encourage other teams to do more of it against us the more we drop points when it happens.
