What you need Is a bit of experience. We left 2 of our experienced players out of the squad. And brought on a 19 year old, an up and down midfielder and a striker who's hadn't played a game for us. For Jackson not to come on for burns.. what was the point of him on the bench?

In the wrong sport then if they can't cope. Ffs. These are well paid sportsman. It's league 1. If they can't cope with football why are that the club? Surely a strong mentality goes with the club slogan they point to all the time. Run towards adversity.

Doubt it's all been down to the psychological shock of Charlton.

Weak excuse imo. Our squad is pretty strong and deep bar upfront. Every club has injuries and sniffles. [Post edited 14 Jan 2023 18:36]

Sure. But is that more extraordinary than blaming the (slight) dip in form on one game three months ago?

Let's not sit there trying to find excuses. On paper, we've got the best and most expensively assembled squad in the league. Mentally they're weak. They're not capable of getting hold of the ball and playing it around with any confidence to see out a game. If it's not mental, then you need to look at McKenna. What's he doing to influence these situations?

I don't disagree on that bit there is undoubtedly mental fragility.

I think it is more mental - phlosophical, even - rather than down to personnel. We've concentrated so much on getting the attacking side to work that defending has suffered. We're not really set up to "see out games" in that sense and it doesn't always work when we try. So we need to score more goals to give ourselves a bigger cushion (and to demoralise the opposition).
