Lovely stuff. White shorts all round, camera in the corner, ball nestles in net. I'm falling in love with them all over again!

Thanks for posting this. I was there but I remember more about the crowd scenes than the actual game! North stand was full of very aggressive Hammers fans who made it clear Town fans were not welcome! After the game a mob of them went on the rampage through the Town and smashed windows as far as the Halberd pub and along St Margarets green by Christchurch Park. I lived my youth a stones throw from there. Remember pictures of the damage was all over the front page of the Star newspaper come Monday. Now I'll be able to remember the actual game.... cheers!

That’s a great bit of footage. No moaning about conditions in those days. Same for both teams - crack on.

That has to be about the best goal Mills ever scored (excluding the FA Cup semi v WBA).

Back in those days tv was so bad you just looked for things like different socks if shirts and shorts were dark.

Looks like that's been clipped from the Big Match video posted on YouTube earlier in the day

From 30:16 here... Warning: Contains images of Jimmy Hill's bohemian beard that some may find offensive.

I was there too but in Churchmans so don't remember the trouble.

I do, however, remember the game being stopped so the lines could be swept clear of snow. I also remember the orange ball coming on.

That's the second bit of ITV footage I've seen from that period with that really weird camera angle in the north west corner.

Anyone got any idea why that was the case? I've seen pictures from around the same sort of time with what looks to be an incredibly rickety camera gantry on the roof at of the old Chicken Run stand, and I don't think at the point this game was played they'd started building the Cobbold Stand yet.

There's footage of the 10-0 Floriana European Cup match from 1962 that seems to be shot from the Eastern side, and I'm sure I've seen a colour match that's been shot from that side circa 1970.

So I wonder why the corner?
