We need to pick an XI and stick with it 22:36 - Feb 12 with 1116 views | JimInGreensboro | Team chemistry is a powerful intangible- knowing who’s out on the pitch with you and their tendencies without taking precious mental moments to sort it all out. Eleven become a powerful force when they build a common chemistry. I wonder if our ever-changing lineups and tactical formations in search of the ideal matchups, plus our rafts of subs late in matches are at the root of our frustrations.
We need to pick an XI and stick with it on 22:50 - Feb 12 with 1046 views | bournemouthblue | It's certainly a contributing factor, I do think Hirst and Broadhead, talented as they are, has confused things further Harness gets a lot of criticism but I think his running gives us something extra going forward, especially on the break

We need to pick an XI and stick with it on 23:18 - Feb 12 with 990 views | Illinoisblue | It’s definitely a factor. In theory if you have two good players for each position and they all know what they’re supposed to be doing, swapping players in and out shouldn’t cause issues. But the reality is it will inevitably have an impact on team chemistry. I assume Plymouth’s core team is much more settled.

Meant to add, in theory it should aid us with opposition teams having no idea who we’ll pick. But for the last two months it just feels like we’ve outfoxed and confused ourselves. Oh well, nobody said it would be easy.

Cheers, IllinoisBlue! I think teams at the top typically say, “Here we are, good luck beating us.” As we try to outfox them, we are effectively outfoxing ourselves. At the end of matches, we often find ourselves an assemblage of parts rather than a unified entity, a squad who haven’t yet even played together. Our uncertainty matches our opponents, advantage lost. And that might be the source of our late breakdowns. Hope you are well! If you are in the Midwest as your name implies, stay warm, my friend!

It just seems unnecessarily disjointed at times. Jackson and Aluko our two best players on Tuesday night; yet they both got just 10 minutes Saturday. It’s not Lambingo but it doesn’t always make sense. Heyho, the playoffs will be fun. Maybe. It’s been an okay Midwest winter thus far. Lot of snow but temps not too bad. Ready for spring though.

We need to pick an XI and stick with it on 06:08 - Feb 13 with 666 views | PioneerBlue | I dont disagree that greater selection consistently would be welcome but it’s not as though most of it hasn’t been forced. : Changes at the back led by Donacien knock, Wolf knock, Leif rest due to game intensity, : Significant injuries in midfield, : Attacking position injuries to Harness TJJ Aluko leading to limited numbers to maintain an intense high press and gain from the transitions, : Up front there is hardly a person that didn’t want Fred to share minutes with another striker. The squad now has more depth, rather than preplanned changes perhaps more focus on the game state and selection of changes based on that.

We need to pick an XI and stick with it on 09:06 - Feb 13 with 481 views | Guthrum | If that is the case, why was it working so well earlier in the season? It wasn't a process we suddenly started doing in October. Having a rigid, fixed First XI also reduces flexibility. If we have an opponent who is vulnerable to pace, we can set the team up that way. If to strength, then differently. Even changing tactics during the game. Moreover, you end up with a situation where the second string is way below the standard of the starters. Picking different teams for specific matches and opponents happens in most other team sports (notably cricket), why should footballers find it so hard to deal with? This thing about having a "first team" and "reserves" is really more about tradition and habit, in much the same way as debate over formations.

Think this is being overstated on 09:11 - Feb 13 with 476 views | unstableblue | If you take out the cup games and injuries then I think the rotation is less than people think I do think more consistency in the front 4 is necessary - but this is where we have a problem with Chaplin, burns and harness consistency. Which I’m hoping Broadhead in part can fix. Sheff Weds front 4 are far better than our lot - stronger and consistent - that’s why they are above us
