As an EE pay as you go customer going to Spain next week, this is not good news.

Will now cost £10 a week, or £2.50 a day, for my text, call and data bundle to be valid, so an additional £20 for the 11 days I will be there. It's also a further bit of hassle that I could do without, roaming charges having been abolished in the EU in 2017.

Inflation isn't good of course, but is it possible that it's higher here as the economy is more resolute and thus interest rate changes haven't had as desired an impact on cooling consumer demand? We've thus far avoided a recession and are predicted to continue that, unlike Germany for example who are already in a technical recession.

Just speculation on my part but I wondered what the key drivers are. Gas prices are a big factor I guess? Could perhaps explain why inflation is higher in Iceland and Sweden than the UK.

Well that's something that should surprise nobody, despite it being labeled 'Project Fear' by Vote Leave, leading Brexiteers and the rabbid pro-Brexit press.

Poll: Do you think Pert is key to all of this?

would you like the b of e to act more aggressively to bring it down more quickly?

And so as the loose-bowelled pigeon of time swoops low over the unsuspecting tourist of destiny, and the flatulent skunk of fate wanders into the air-conditioning system of eternity, I notice it's the end of the show

I suspect there’s an element of truth in that. The real crunch, and probably a recession will come over the next 18 months as more and more fixed rate mortgage periods end. When people face their monthly payments going up by hundreds of pounds, spending will be reigned in dramatically, especially those who are highly leveraged.

I think we should probably look to act on the profiteering energy companies who have played a large part of fuelling it.
