Solve this for me TWTD 22:56 - Jun 6 with 2033 views | Lord_Lucan | Although this is more complicated than GB’s music mystery. So I needed a new range oven and I prefer gas top and bottom. Also, and very importantly I wanted one with a glass lid that you can put up and down, thus enabling another work surface. Now then, I googled for months and the only range size oven on the market with a lid is gas hob with electric oven. As a domestic cook with ideas above my station I dismissed the electric oven. However - a double gas with a lid simply doesn’t exist. So, reluctantly I bought the gas / electric combo and because I didn’t have a nearby electric socket for the oven I paid the firm £150 to install it. On arrival the know it all fitters advise that they only connect it (plug it in) and my electric supply to the oven isn’t adequate. So, now I have to get a sparky in. Sparky arrives today and advises that it’s £600 to run a thick wire thing to it. So, I’m gonna end up paying an extra £750 to fit an oven just because I wanted one with a lid. Looking back on this I think I would rather spend £750 on a better quality pure gas oven with no lid. So, my question to sparky, gas person is how can I sabotage the fecking thing so I can say it’s faulty and send the bastard back? Serious question. Happy to pay for a saboteur. I inherited a gas hob/electric oven and it's great although the knobs are falling off and can't read the temperature gauge. Gas hob is essential but leccy ovens are OK aren't they? I'm sure some will say that you should move over to electric at some point so the upgrade will be worthwhile but I feel your pain.

I used to be fully onboard with the view that gas hobs are essential but after using modern induction hobs I'm no longer convinced that is the case, they are excellent and provide the same power and control as gas. SB
Solve this for me TWTD on 09:16 - Jun 7 with 1610 views | Deano69 | I may be wrong on this but it could be that domestic gas supplies do not have enough flow capacity to run double gas oven plus gas hob (possibly a five ring burner?) as well as any other gas appliances in the house (boiler/fire etc). We had this issue after a house major rebuild and the option was to install commercial grade gas supply at something like £2500 for the installation and go in commercial tariffs. Also, suggesting you won’t use A while using B and C doesn’t cut it with the gas regulations.

That too allegedly requires enough electricity to power a nuclear submarine. Using simple logic that I was somewhat unlikely to used all the hobs, grill and oven at the same time I connected it up - to a ‘normal’ electric oven point. It works perfectly well - I suspect your behemoth will do the same.

I think you're right about that, I was close to buying an 8-burner gas range cooker a few years ago, but found out right at the last minute that our domestic gas supply wouldn't cope with it and would need upgrading. Bought 2 standard gas cookers instead, both with glass lids (sorry OP, they're not for sale ) which have been great for years.

Good thinking DJR, thanks. I have requested a return and listed my reason as "Other" One good thing Amazon has done is forced retailers to bend over backwards for stoopid consumers. We will see what they say. If successful I will invite you over for dinner and give you a hug - on the proviso that you don't regards that as a sexual assault.
