Tory MP sacked 16:36 - Oct 7 with 1768 viewsHARRY10

Connor Burns (Bournemouth West) booted out, with immediate effect

I can think a couple of reasons, but best not say at this stage

The media has

"A Tory minister has been sacked by Liz Truss and suspended by the party amid allegations about his behaviour at its annual conference."

"The swift speed at which action has been taken is in marked contrast to the protracted case of Chris Pincher under Mr Johnson's leadership."

Athough, yes, it's a better response than the one regarding Chris Pincher, let's not forget that Truss has opted to do nothing concerning the Tory MP arrested for rape and other offences, who is currently still subject to bail.

You ain't a beauty but, hey, you're alright.

Much as with Owen Paterson, Tory MP, caught with his 'fingers in the till'. One where the odious Rees-Mogg tried to change the rules to protect him

"Rees-Mogg said he had made a “mistake” by conflating his support for reforming the standards system "

Johnson fared no better in regard to this matter " Johnson’s bid to save him was “misplaced, ill-judged and just plain wrong”.

You missed a trick - could have headlined with ‘Burns Out’ for more clicks.

I might be thinking of someone else but hasn't he been sacked from that exact position before? Surely a first.

Yeah, it’s him.

“Following Johnson's appointment as Prime Minister, Burns served as Minister of State for Trade Policy. He resigned in 2020, after a Standards Committee inquiry found he had made "veiled threats" to use privilege to "further his family's interests" during a financial dispute involving his father.”

Quite a record of being an obnoxious tvvat and a racist according the the oracle that is Wiki. The parliamentary career section is ‘interesting’ in places.

But he hasn't been sacked as an MP has he?

Wonder when it was we last had so many Independent MPs and not just those who have had the Conservative whip removed.

Resigned as a Minister in 2020 for intimidating a local, via a letter - which threatened to make unfounded allegation through Parliamentary privilege

Unkind souls might think having the whip removed is a bit extreme

"the Tory MP arrested for rape and other offences, who is currently still subject to bail. "

"an unnamed Conservative MP who was asked to stay away from parliament after being arrested on suspicion of serious sexual offences, including rape."

and if that is not enough there is also

"Another Conservative MP, David Warburton, who represents Somerton and Frome, had the whip suspended while under investigation for sexual harassment by the House of Commons’ independent complaints and grievance scheme"

never mind these are just odd events, or

" Conservative party attendees have been accused of homophobic abuse at an LGBT+ event at the fringes of this week’s annual conference in Birmingham. Several people were removed for allegedly hurling homophobic insults at an event organised by LGBT Conservatives at the Reflex nightclub

makes ya prahd to be a rightie, innit

See Warburton has resigned his seat so that’s 4 by-elections in the pipeline. Another safe seat where LibDems are the second party.

Br interesting to see, if there is an anti Tory vote rather than a swing to Labour. Would need Labour supporters to vot LibDem to take seat from Tories.
