Didn't their opener get close to a double ton?

Ade Akinbiyi couldn't hit a cows arse with a banjo...

My local cricket club, only been the once to watch England A, lovely little ground but v much one of the dmaer sides, long gone are the days of Alan Lamb or Cutrley Ambrose gracing the ground.

Been awful for a few years now really. Cricket in the East Mids is really struggling

Poll: Will Phil ever confirm we are actually close on a signing ever again

Northants have always been good at producing young players. They just can't compete with the big boys when it comes to keeping hold of them. Over the years, they've had Swann, Duckett, Willey etc, all of whom made moves to the test ground counties.

Cracking side in the 80s though. As you say, Lamb, Ambrose along with Larkins, Wood, Capel, Mallender etc.

At the moment, they do look like a Division Two team in Division One. And Derby and Leics have also been in the doldrums in that region too, again very strong counties only 20 or so years ago.

Leics were awful last year went they, similar to Northants though in that they have produced some fine players over recent years that have gone on to other things.

Counties like that play an important role even if it is talent development.

Highly recommend taking in a game at NCC if you get the chance. I need to try and get to a county championship game myself. The more I go the less Lionel Richie has to play there

As possibly the only person in the country who supports ITFC, Bedford Blues and Somerset CCC, I feel I should draw attention to Somerset's remarkable victory this afternoon. Notts led by 23 on first innings, but Somerset won by 399 runs. That's a bit of a turnaround!

Actually TWTDers sports team combos would be interesting...

Me: ITFC, Kent, Toronto Blue Jay's and Maple Leafs.. half a glancing interest in Wigan Warriors
