It was an odd game where we seemed in control for the most part and dominated possession, but they had the better chances which all came from individual errors on our part. Really did gift them a couple of excellent chances that we have Hladky to thank for keeping the score at 0-0. Unsurprisingly they remind me a bit of Wycombe, fundamentally not that good but it wouldn't surprise me if they do OK. The sort of team that could be humped one week and then grind a win out the next, and their start to the season probably reflects that already. I wasn't a vintage performance from Town but the conditions didn't help in that, it was certainly a game that could've gone either way in the 1st half. What was particularly evident was how fresh and fitter we looked as the game went on compared to them. They looked liked they ran out of steam after 60 minutes. Goals change games though, we scored and they didn't. This is a tough level that we're at now, we won't go away from home and roll sides over, especially stubborn ones like QPR in their first home game of the season, on a hot day and slow pitch. We'll have to dig in and ride our luck at times. Great start to our season though, that felt like a big win for us. Luton won 21 games in the league last season and they got promotion. We've won 3 already.

I watched the game in Paris and QPR's legs definitely appeared to go as the second half wore on and they were much less of a threat. Sometimes scrapping to a win is actually a good thing in my eyes too. We'll have a few games like that this season.

QPR are widely tipped for the drop by all and sundry. Their supporters have barely seen them win this calendar year. We've been smashing every we've seen since Valentine's Day and are every pundits "dark horse" to do well. It was much tougher than all that would've implied and it genuinely was a game that could've gone either way. QPR caused us some real problems for long passages of the game. But... ultimately, we ended an away game with more possession, more shots and higher xG, despite QPR having to chase the game for more than 20 minutes. We'll be doing well to have that sort of balance of play in a lot of away games this season. [Post edited 21 Aug 2023 12:11]

We were the better side throughout. They probably made the closer chances in the end and, if more clinical, should have won it. I am not sure that it was so much a fitness thing for them, as the effort required to shut down our passing and movement is incredibly draining.
