Scarlett - Back up for Hirst? 15:59 - Nov 13 with 1290 views | blue_curacao | I've seen a few posts suggesting that we need another striker in the George Hirst mould in the Jan window. Whilst I would be happy to see another arrival in Jan, personally I think that we already have that player in Dane Scarlett. To me he looks to have all of the physical attributes and has been getting more minutes recently, presumably as he becomes more familiar with the role KMcK wants him to play. Am I alone in thinking that if he gets a bit more game time and a goal to his name then he will be flying? He looks like a really exciting prospect to me. Shame that he is only here on loan and possibly/probably out of our price range. What are people's thoughts on him so far?

Scarlett - Back up for Hirst? on 16:03 - Nov 13 with 1244 views | hype313 | I'll be honest, from what I've seen so far, he looks quite far removed from the exciting prospect you state. Appreciate he hasn't had much game time, and generally coming on when we are trying to shut up shop, but he hasn't shown ay of the best young striker in Europe praise as yet.

He's definitely getting more involved, a bit unlucky at not having the ball quite fall properly for him on Saturday as a goal would definitely help (And the failure to score made it all a bit edgy). An alternative to Hirst remains very high up our shopping list for January.

Scarlett - Back up for Hirst? on 16:21 - Nov 13 with 1089 views | LankHenners | Has been discussed on here before but think the 3 primary reasons for us not seeing the best of him so far are - coming to us late in the day so didn't have time to get up to speed with how we play, being cup-tied by Spurs so we couldn't use the Carabao to get some decent minutes into him, and being away on international duty at every break so he misses the proper training time which isn't so match specific. What that's all meant is that he's come on at the end of games where most of the time we're either holding onto a lead or the game is pretty much over and we're not creating the sort of situations that our other attackers have benefitted from. As others have said he's looked bright in the positions behind Hirst, notably against Birmingham where he clearly enjoyed linking up with his mate Omari, and also thought he played one really nice ball through to Ladapo against Rotherham which could have produced something but the latter made a mess of controlling it off his chest. Hard to see where/when he gets the game time he needs but with a busy schedule coming up it wouldn't surprise me if McKenna drops him in for a start, likely to rest Broadhead as he does on occasion, over the next few weeks. Hopefully we get through 2 or 3 rounds of the FA Cup as well as you'd think he'd be nailed on to start them which should help him.

Scarlett - Back up for Hirst? on 16:32 - Nov 13 with 1023 views | ChampionsofInnsbruck | Scarlett has contributed, but he's not ready to play as main striker in a Championship team the way Hirst or even Ladapo is. If we're buying anyone, it's someone in the mould of Adam Armstrong to be used interchangeably with Hirst, Hirst is doing amazingly well but he's clearly knackered towards the 60 minute mark, Ladapo can play that role but he's not as fast on his feet although he's very good at holding the ball up and putting the quicker players through.
Scarlett - Back up for Hirst? on 16:32 - Nov 13 with 1023 views | DanTheMan | I agree with what others have said, I don't see him as Hirst backup as he isn't anywhere near as good at holding up the ball as Hirst is. But I think when he's been playing behind him or to the left, he's looked pretty good all things considered. I wouldn't mind seeing him get a start at some point when Chaplin or Broadhead needs a rest. We do need someone we can rotate for Hirst. I like Ladapo, he's done better this season than I thought he would, but we need an upgrade to push us. I think we tend to look noticeably less effective upfront when we take Hirst off because we miss his holdup play.
