He's still only thirty. Surprised me, but still doesn't make him a credible option.
He never quite had the stellar career that seemed inevitable when he started out and when Sunderland paid so much for him.
His PL appearances have been limited.
He's had a decent career, but that's all, and demonstrates the trap that Championship clubs can fall into by overestimating their own.

Even if he's training I doubt he's doing full training as clubs wouldn't want to risk him injuring their players during practice matches, he won't be going full tilt either with no games to prepare for and the chance of getting injured. He'll be miles off it and I'd say even a fit Wickham at this stage probably doesn't improve the squad, I'd make Ladapo a better option. | |
