Now we will see what the real ambition is by the owners. If it's a push for promotion this season then there has to be some serious business done in the window. If its a more long-term project then we won't. There is no guarantee that we will be in this position next year or that McKenna will be the manager.

It's literally not possible for them to spend big bucks without us getting a points deduction. We'll spend a few million which will be our absolute limit.

Poll: Who do we think McKenna (not you) will partner Greaves with ?

FFP

How is this still not understood? Are people suggesting we gamble and have to sell players at the end of this/next season.

FFP

This.

It really is BS this whole FFP thing and needs a re think. Achieves the opposite of what it was designed to by limiting clubs like us and rewarding parachute/yo yo teams - basically protecting the status quo to some extent and making it very difficult for us to compete financially without selling our best players like Davis etc.

It's frustrating but hard to see how it's a bad thing more generally. Stopping clubs crippling themselves and going bust.

I would agree the change that is needed is on the parachute payments. I'm not sure how it works but I would certainly rule out those payments counting as revenue for the purpose of FFP or something.

We can spend now and sell players if we fail to go up.

Any transfer fees are spread over the period of the deal agreed. £4m with a 4 year deal means £1m per year.

Davis is unlikely to be hear next year if we don’t get promoted anyway.

The best way to ensure that we aren’t able to get a good fee for Davis is if we are facing a points deduction if we don’t sell him.

And what if his calf strain proves to be worse than we hope? Or is his form tails off? Or if he gets a more serious injury?

We’ve been in bad financial positions in the past. I don’t want to do anything to risk getting into that position again.

FFP or no FFP, we need serious competition for wee Hirst. We look toothless without him.

It depends on who will come here. Some that I have heard mentioned are also being chased by Premier League. We should be a better proposition for potential targets, but if they decide not to come here we won't just sign someone for the sake of it

We will never have a better chance than this and I’m sure that Gamechanger will do all that they can to support K McK.

The number of points we have at this stage is ridiculous even after our last 5 results.
