cup wins 14:53 - Jan 15 with 1542 viewspositivity

anyone able to confirm or deny a stat posited on the kings of anglia podcast?

"mckenna's won more cup games than mccarthy/hurst/lambert/cook combined?"

Not true, I think.

McKenna: 8
Cook: 2
Lambert: 5
Hurst: 0
McCarthy: 3

(This counts games decided on penalties as draws, but the only differences would be 1 more win for McKenna, 1 more win for Lambert and 1 defeat for Hurst if you included them as wins/losses.)

Get rid of the pizza cup as that includes 4 years of embarrassing group stages.

We'll lose 3-2 to Liverpool at Anfield in a 5th round replay, then go on to win promotion. Nice little bit of history repeating itself.

No replays in the 5th round, we'll just have to repeat 1978 instead.

Agreed, and happy to oblige:

McKenna: 6 (+1 on pens)

Cook: 1
Lambert: 2
Hurst: 0
McCarthy: 3

Bingo!

excellent, good stuff.

it won't be long till he sees off the other paul, but seem to remember the dark lord being surprisingly successful in the cups, so it'll be a while 'til they add him...

McCarthy only winning 3 cup games in 6 years, most of which were favourable draws, is absolutely embarrassing.

To be fair, working on a shoe string budget with a small, tight-knit squad, you can't really blame Mick for not prioritising the cups when he had to squeeze every last bit out of them that he could.

That does not excuse the regular "cupsets" we had to endure.

Zero FA cup wins in 6 seasons including against (at the time) non-league Lincoln was a depressing run.

Yeah, I agree it wasn't great but then some of the blame for that lays at the hands of the owner who had given up.

Poor old Hursty - didn't get much of a crack did he? I would have liked to have seen the little bugg3r lift a cup...

That's the Egg Cup by the way - just one level down from the Milk Cup which is N*rwich's proudest achievement.

(nice GWR one, but.)

League 2 Pompey and League 1 Preston also got a draw at PR then beat us in the replay.
