Hey all. Long time lurker, very occasional poster.
I'm interested in the local views on the state of the housing market in the area specifically Stowmarket. I moved away decades ago but helping my aging mum move out of her home, the old family home.
Long story short, no viewings in nearly 2 months, doesn't seem crazily priced, estate agents seem non plussed just keep saying housing market is slow. I guess these days with right move it would create interest even if the estate agents weren't bothered.
Just thought I'd see if anyone has any opinions of the local housing market before we slash the price or change agent or whatever.

Anecdotally, I had someone interested in buying a property from me in March this year but had to sell a property in Stowmarket. They reduced the price but still couldn’t sell so I ended up renting my property out. Just checked and it’s still not sold. |  | | |

Lots of houses for sale which just tells me that values are generally too high and not enough demand.
If your agent is non plussed, I suppose they are just waiting out for a miracle rather than being proactive (shock, the usual....).
Interest is always related to the price. Might be worth changing agents but also doing your own in-depth comparisons to other similar properties. |  | | |

At start of the year so called experts were predicting 5 to 6 drops this year, now looking like first drop will be in August. Probably see a big uptick in viewings etc then. |  | | |

Even now, they are saying they are going to keep them on hold in August, so will be tail nd of the year before any drop |  |

Thanks for the responses. I think it's in line with what we've discovered really, it's adequately priced but no one is buying. Frustrating and I think the estate agents aren't covering themselves in glory but the market is what it is I guess.
Edit: the market must be picking up! Literally just received an email and the first viewing in two months is booked in. Fingers crossed it gets the ball rolling. [Post edited 9 Jul 2024 16:05]
