Both are perfectly cromulent options - it all depends, really, on what look you want to go for, and perhaps the degree of insulation you want/need to achieve.

We've got some nice full-length curtains for our external doors, which we got from Dunelm - https://www.dunelm.com/product/ruskin-thermal-eyelet-door-curtains-1000206424?co - and they do a really good job of keeping the heat in on winter nights. I can't quite see that internal blinds would do the same job.

If you want to go all European, you could look at external shutters, which will serve to prevent cold air from even reaching the glazing, then you could do whatever you like internally, without having to worry so much about insulation.

Vertical blinds are a nightmare on a door, I’d suggest internal shutters as an alternative.

Slightly more cost wise, but get the glass with the blinds built in.
Wish I’d have spent the extra dosh when getting bifolds in our kitchen.

We’ll be good again... one day

Was going to comment with these. We’ve fitted them to our french doors and they’re the best solution in terms of not needing bulky curtains / blinds. Really easy to fit and not particularly expensive

Cromulent. What an excellent word. Had to look it up and I was surprised where it came from!
