When ten Hag loses his job, hopefully McKenna will rule himself out and make it clear that he is committed to us until next summer (at least) so we don't have a repeat of all the nonsense in May.

I know it's part of modern football, but it would really destabilise the squad if we have to deal with all that uncertainty again during the season.

I hope that MA / ES managed to get a contractual agreement from KM to remain for the season in return for the 500% pay increase.

Or a £20m compensation clause to put potential suitors off.

However, in reality, turning down Utd would be hard for KM to do.

Good news. There's a contractual agreement that he remain here for 4 seasons, not just 1.

But your last sentence still absolutely holds good, more's the pity.

Very few of us doubt that McKenna would love to manage United but they are still in such a mess that I think they should have a few months of Paul Cook's demolition man treatment first.

Dan Ashworth and Jim Ratcliffe are very close to Southgate, they probably didn't want to take him in the summer due to Euro's, but sounds like TH has 2 games to turn things around.

Yeah the United Board’s track record of appointing managers has been terrible in recent years - for that reason we can probably assume they’d go Southgate over KM. And onward to more years of mediocrity…

To be fair, Man Utd have made just ONE successful managerial appointment in 50 years!!

He wouldn't turn it down and i doubt we'd try and stop him, even if it was mid-season. But it's nailed on they'll be getting Southgate.
