That was all a bit powder puff wasn't it? 18:23 - Oct 19 with 1122 views | Dubtractor | Not too often we've looked that tame since Mckenna came in, but we didn't seem especially up for it today, with possible exception of Delap. I don't generally like boiling football down to whether the team was 'up for it' enough, but it did feel like that today. 2 nil down and chasing the game, and we barely made a foul. Phillips made a couple of strong challenges in the second half, which briefly roused the crowd, and that was about it. Morsy playing with the hand brake on due to fear of suspension is a big problem.

That was all a bit powder puff wasn't it? on 18:35 - Oct 19 with 1042 views | LankHenners | Yeah, apart from 2 or 3 no-one in the team seemed to realise we were 2-0 down until the last 5 mins or so. I appreciate we have a calmness about us when going behind and a belief we can get back into games but we were walking around with no urgency at all. Without doing a thorough check of the results it always feels like we come out of the International breaks a bit sleepy. Was quite a concerning performance all in all imo. Everyone has bad days and sh!t happens but as you say we were so flat on the pitch and in the stands it just felt like a big reality bites moment. Maybe if Clarke (who I'm increasingly struggling to see the usefulness of) doesn't spurn a golden chance in the 4th minute then maybe it's a different game but he didn't and it wasn't. Have to hope this isn't the start of a pattern.

Morsy is a bit of a puzzle really..... on 18:56 - Oct 19 with 936 views | Bloots | ....the CMs in the Prem are just so much more physical and athletic than anything we have seen for the last 2 years. I know it will be considered "blasphemous" but I'm not sure he's Premier League standard in such an important position. The same could probably be said for others, but should he be considered untouchable? I'm not sure.

Especially when we have Phillips in there who seems to perform a similar role. I get wanting to have a more solid 'base' at this level but I'm not convinced it really works. Cajuste seems to be the sort of profile we need so hopefully he'll get himself fit. Wouldn't mind seeing him and Phillips together so the latter can do the simple stuff which he does well and the former can do the charging up and down the pitch throwing himself about role. Morsy was too slow at times last season but we got away with it as we were able to establish a certain level of dominance so what was 'slow' manifested itself as 'calmness' whereas now it's the other way around. As Dub said, regardless of what he and McKenna say, I wouldn't be surprised if Morsy's got the handbrake on a little bit due to his number of bookings. Would explain a bit anyway.

Delap isn't helpful as a starter ? Am I reading that right ?

Yes you are. Hirst is clever with his press. He guides defenders into places they don't realise they don't wanna be in.. thus they then get into trouble with one of our other pressers. He also holds it whilst bringing others into the game and holds it well enough to have the likes of Burns. Davis etc ti get forward in attack hence it used to be Hirst holds to chappers then it goes to burns. With delap it's more directness and what I call the harness effect. Ball comes in quick turn attempt sometimes comes off alot of times runs into trouble. He has however scored some goals which I covered already. In a full singing town side delap would be fine. But with our current struggles having a striker who can't do the job Hirst did doesn't help us. I'm sure many will disagree. He's already become a hero. But I'm looking at the bigger picture of what are the reasons we are struggling at the moment. Not what players may become in a year.
