Looking back at Premier tables after 8 games 11:55 - Oct 23 with 1537 views | unstableblue | So we are 8 games in, winless, -10 GD, but with 4 points and outside the bottom 3 in 17th. 3 other teams are also winless and below us Palace, Wolves and Saints. Let’s compare to the last two seasons. 23/24 14 WOL 8 2 2 4 -5 8 15 BRE 8 1 4 3 -1 7 16 EVE 8 2 1 5 -3 7 17 LUT 8 1 1 6 -9 4 18 BUR 8 1 1 6 -13 4 19 BOU 8 0 3 5 -13 3 20 SHU 8 0 1 7 -16 1 22/23 14 AVL 8 2 2 4 -4 8 15 WHU 8 2 1 5 -4 7 16 SOU 8 2 1 5 -5 7 17 CRY 7 1 3 3 -3 6 18 WOL 8 1 3 4 -6 6 19 LEIC 8 1 1 6 -8 4 20 NFO 8 1 1 6 -15 4 Conclusions: - we’re not Sheffield United - the bottom 3 now is not always representative of the end of season - winless after 8 is rare - things will change

Some interesting stuff in this OPTA analysis by Steve_M 22 Oct 2024 12:11Certainly the teams who stayed up despite not winning in the first eight matches which one side will manage this season.

The 'supercomputer' stuff is the same load of bollox that always favours the 'bigger' clubs as ever though.

Regardless though, the sooner we can get a win the better.

Thanks Steve - missed that. Will take a look. This winless 4 is a media theme, and we want to leva that pack ASAP. We need to play like we did at Brighton on Saturday against a pacey attacking Brentford side - they are highest in attacking stats in the league. Jack Clarke described Brighton as our hardest opponents, and we drew. But wouldn’t it be nice to nick a winner. But stopping the losses would be great ahead of Leicester.

Looking back at Premier tables after 8 games on 12:51 - Oct 23 with 1237 views | ElephantintheRoom | Not Sheff U - but might well be Burnley in that they were overhyped in the Championship and continued to play their open attacking football all the way to oblivion…then watched the manager jump ship. The table always lies until every team has played everybody twice…. But it’s a tad noticeable that the three relegated clubs last season had 4 points or less. More worrying is that Palace and Wolves are serial survivors after dodgy starts… but FFP appears to have condemned Wolves this time - albeit the fixture list hasn’t been too kind to them thus far.
