Although he's no Brenner Wooley

Blofeld up there too. And possibly Trevor Bailey if only for his “That’s a lot of balls” comment about a certain bowler’s stats..

agreed, Benners, Jim Maxwell and Alan McGilvray of the oversea commentators deserve a mention

I would also add I enjoy Isa Guha and Alex Hartley nowadays and while I thought I would never say this Ricky Ponting is excellent (although he is usually on Sky)

He's good, but he's not in the Arlott class (although I am of an age where I was only able to listen to him towards the very end of his career), nor in the Benaud class - different medium obviously. I thought it typical of Agnew that he managed to make the moment Root became England's all time Test run scorer somewhat about himself.

The other post on this thread mentions Essex's own Trevor Bailey, I was a fan of his too.

Brilliant. Aggers knew exactly what he was doing.

Tony Cozier added to the pantheon.

I went off Maxwell after hearing him on ABC during the Ashes, he made the Channel 7 bunch sound balanced and fair, though at least Aggers got to swear on the radio for once.

Ian Smith is far better, as was Tony Cozier for being impartial overseas commentators
