Absolutely the final whistle should make no difference, just as VAR would not have saved Phillips from the red card last week had it (correctly) got the penalty awarded that it should have done. (Obviously, the ref giving it in real time would have saved him from it, as would the ref not deeming it a yellow card challenge either.) | |
