But I was sad to see Russell Martin sacked. He was genuinely challenging Derby's 11 point record, and it would have been interesting to see how far he could push it. They were on track to get 11.875 points this season.

I am not sure their own board have any confidence the new guy will do any better. He has 18 months, although if he can perform a miracle and keep them up he will get 2 more years.

There's been times this season when I was anxiously thinking about the Derby 11 for us. Thankfully that milestone has now passed. Realistically, no team is ever going to be so bad as to not get out of single figures purely on law of averages.

I recall Sunderland getting something silly like 15 points one season and another season where they didn't do much better when they bounced back.

Stoke in the 80's got 17 points from 42 games.
