Anyone watched 7/7.? 00:21 - Jan 8 with 1505 viewsCheltenham_Blue

Watched ep1 tonight very good. I was in London the following day, was still chaotic, understandably.
Hard to believe it was nigh on 20 years ago.

Was a commuter in those days. At that time there was a staircase down to the central line at the end of one of the platforms that the mainline trains from Ipswich arrived at. On 7 July as I got off the 0737 train from Ipswich at Liverpool Street and walked down the platform onto the concourse, the shutters were just coming down on the staircase. A fairly normal occurrence during rush hour as the tube platforms often got so dangerously overcrowded that the station staff shut off access for a few minutes to let the crush die cown.

Only when I got to the office did I find out they had been closed off for a different reason that day....

I've watched the first two episodes and it is a heart breaking watch for the people who were there, those who attended the aftermath and the relatives who didn't know if their loved ones were safe or not.

On a sort of lighter note I was on the taxis at the time and the following day an old girl who I picked up refused to get in until I'd done a full bomb detection sweep of my car.

Not yet, I think I will though as most people who've seen it concur with your view.

I was working near the Bank of England that day. The news services were swamped and mobile networks either overloaded or taken offline - I was getting updates regarding Liverpool Street station from this board! SWGF (I think?) was working in Tower 42 and would post whenever he saw the trains moving at the station.

This was all pre-WhatsApp groups, and my wife remembers being at the school gate for afternoon pickup, checking with the other Mums as to where their husbands/partners were.

I was living near Regents Park. I'd been on nights so knew nothing about it until I went to the launderette early afternoon. The woman who worked there asked me why I wasn't at work, which I thought was a strange question.
I know several who attended the scenes and the stories are horrible.

I was working in Whitehall that day, and took the view as soon as it became clear that there was more than one incident, that the best thing to do was to hotfoot it to Charing Cross and get the first train to my home in Kent before any further attacks/transport issues. At Charing Cross, I stood as far down the platform as I could but there was little evidence that many followed what I did because the train and platform was very quiet.

On another occasion I was driving across Westminister Bridge to park in Horse Guards Parade around the time of the 10 Downing Street mortar attack. My journey was prevented by an ever-increasing cordon, so I parked across the river and walked to work, where we were advised to make sure the bomb curtains were in place.

And in 1987 I was driving past Kings Cross just as numerous fire engines arrived to deal with the fire that killed 31 people. It was only when I got home that I realised from the news what had happened. I thought it best to phone my parents to tell them I was OK just in case they were worried by the news only to find that they were blissfully unaware of what had happened.
