A rare visit to FPR this season for me 07:09 - May 26 with 914 viewsMullet

Feels really weird to have done pretty much all the away games and struggled to get back to FPR much this season - whether it was health, personal stuff, timings etc or just the lack of the games compared to the champ.

Doesn’t feel like I missed a lot given our awful form. £41 for the upper churchmans felt a bit grabby from the club too, but I’m just out of touch with the elite products I think.

I think there’s little you can pick out of the game. We had 5 minute spells of good and bad and ultimately didn’t do enough. Players probably not wanting to get injured and thinking about anything else was probably a factor.

There was a pink wall with handwritten Sheeran lyrics added. It was nice to see he forgot some of them and had to add them in the margins. If you have his email Phil, I’ll send him my marking. The pitch looked great from up high and the whole day felt a bit preseason friendly.

The pub, the people, all that stuff was worth the journey, but it did strike me as a crossroads moment. We went from gallant 3rd from bottom to sinking below that in a matter of days. McKenna has chosen to stay here, when he could have been in the Prem next season (presumably on less money). The squad will be broken up and refreshed.

I hated league one and was embarrassed we let ourselves get there. This won’t rank as being as bad, but as a season it’s hard to take much as someone who doesn’t care about being a tourist or bit part in a big teams day etc. I always want us to fight and compete. Now we’ve had the 20 year gap, you’d hope there would be less “lucky to be here” type thinking about the place if we go up again.

Leicester felt like the end of the season for me. I’m all footballed out now and looking forward to a couple of weeks not watching it. Hopefully once the summer stuff gets rolling and signings are coming and going we will see us taking shape as champions elect.

Did you miss FPR?

For a load of reasons I'm not sure I can make the ST work next year but will still go away when I can.

I know that was then, but it could be again..

Yeah, it’s in my bones - I watch every game but usually get back at least 6 games a season and have done for over 20 years. The glory hunters presumably make some difference to increased competition etc too.

I think having people worth catching up with makes the journey worth it, so being away from it for a bit makes me appreciate it even more.
