When I was a kid, wearing a hat was seemingly mandatory for a certain type of elderly male driver....as were string=backed driving gloves

My mate started wearing a hat when driving once he reached about 64. "Much more practical than forever adjusting the visors", which may be true, but it still makes him look about 80.
