| The cries for Walton are ridiculous 23:35 - Sep 4 with 1503 views | Joey_Joe_Joe_Junior | He’s not a PL keeper, as great a servant as he’s been to the club. Reminds of the way some fans felt about Morsy last time in the Prem. McKenna didn’t even fancy CW as a champ starter at times. Our fanbase is so sentimental and at times, dare I say deluded, it hurts sometimes. The problem is not replacing or trying to upgrade on Walton, the problem is not hitting on 8 figure goalkeepers. By the way I’m not writing Kjell off by any means. However, I’m a little worried, not going to lie. Forest, Leeds, Sunderland, (maybe Hull, although it’s early days) seem to hit on this. Let’s hope we have, otherwise we have got worrying questions to answer (again!). [Post edited 5 Sep 1:20]

Also pretty certain he would be better positioned for the 2nd to give himself a chance. Not saying that he wouldnt have conceeded at all, he may have made a more Walton-esque mistake later in the game. But he definitely does better with those 2 goals.

I don’t care about any of that though. You have to get a PL level keeper, this is now our second attempt.

Agreed, Walton (or Palmer for that matter) are not up to Prem standard either. Annoyingly Hull seem to have made a good decision to buy Tzolakis who looks quality. Granted they paid £20m for him, but that seems to be the going rate for a Premier League keeper these days. We haven't learned our lesson and have bought another inconsistent keeper for around the 10m mark. Scherpen is Muric mk 2.

I think we sent the better keeper on loan, if I am honest.

Exactly, the same fanbase that was wanting Chaplin and co back in when it went wrong last time. We have to upgrade but its getting the recruitment right that’s key.

Agree Schepren could have done better for both goals. However, the backline was all over the place in those first 30+ mins. That causes issues confidence wise with the keeper as we saw 2 years ago. Second half better.... But for me O'Shea is no RB and needs to go back central. I said earlier I'm not going to call out players... but what I posted last week still stands.

Agreed! For me O'Shea is noo RB and needs to go back to do his best work in CB. Love to see how Outarra would do at RB. | | | | Login to get fewer ads

Bigger issues in the line above Shepren to deal with first...

I’m not saying he has an unlimited leash because we signed him for decent money., I’m saying that the bigger issue, might be us struggling to find the correct keeper with ridiculous funds at the position in European football. We need to be hitting on our second attempt. Let’s see what happens, early days. It’s the fans saying why did we sign a keeper that’s annoying, obviously we needed to. [Post edited 5 Sep 1:33]

Walton saves the first one, parries it back into the box (his specialist trait) and they still score anyway.
