Lisbie Nets Twice as U's Destroy Canaries
Lisbie Nets Twice as U's Destroy Canaries
Saturday, 8th Aug 2009 17:16

On-loan Town striker Kevin Lisbie netted twice on his return to Colchester United as the U's demolished Norwich City 7-1 at Carrow Road to send the Canaries to second-bottom of League One. Lisbie rejoined his former club on loan for the season earlier in the week.

It was a good day for ex-Town strikers with Jordan Rhodes and Dean Bowditch both scoring debut goals for the new clubs. Bowditch's Yeovil, who also featured George O'Callaghan, beat Tranmere 2-0, while Rhodes came off the bench to net the equaliser for Huddersfield in a 2-2 draw at Southend.

Jon Macken scored for Barnsley in a 2-2 draw at Sheffield Wednesday and Alan Lee netted for Crystal Palace in a 1-1 draw at home to Plymouth.

I think every Norwich fan will be recieving a few digs for a while. Always nice to see them struggle though.
Also really good to see Lisbie back into scoring form, never really settled with our method here and i recon he's back where he should be and getting games again.
Rhodes gets a debut goal which will go some way in settling him in and give him a bit of confidence. Wish him well for the season ahead.

Chris Coleman said in an interview with SkySports in the run up to Town's opener tomorrow night: "You can't get promoted on the opening day, but you can get relegated..." Lets all hope!!!!

just got back from carrow rd, got given tickets so thought i'd take a look! my god i could never have expected such a treat, norwich were dismal especially the keeper, Lisbie looked amazing i think he suits colchesters style better. gunn was attacked by 2 fans at 3 or 4 nil and protests at end of game, however i felt sorry for one of the directors. He got called a C..T by a 'fan' while with his wife, i offered words of support (but didn't let on my Blue blood lol) and i think he was genuinly happy. Great day to be a blue incognito lets hope we are still happy this time 2morrow!!!

Great day for tractor boys everywhere, i'm not about to give any luck to the budgies for this season but hell are they going to need it on this performance. Lets hope that the boys haven't been side tracked by this but instead spirred on as we need to start well tommorow, come on you blues!

Believe me I am as pleased as anyone with the result from Carrot Road but we shouldn 't gloat too much as we could fall on our faces tomorrow. I have been watching ITFC far too long to think that any game will easy and tomorrow will be the same. Norwich have found that out today and as a previous post has indidcated I don't think our previous Manager knew how to play Lisbie - a great pity but then our previous Manager ruined several of our players last season. Oh and well done Blackpool. Come on you blues

I am in 7th heaven. Pity wasn't cloud 9 hehe. I think I will write a letter to both clubs asking for a copy of the game on dvd to treasure. Good day for strikers with town connections today. Very happy for bowditch. League one table makes good reading! can't wait for tomorrow, hope were in good voice for sir bobby. Come on the town!
