Tweeting the Blues
Tweeting the Blues

As the number of people using Twitter continues to soar, TWTD contributor Chris Rand - @CherryHintonBlu - explains how to get involved.

The number of people using Twitter continues to soar, as anyone knows who's been following the hashtags for events such as this summer's music festivals. Twitter lends itself to providing a real-time commentary on events from people who are actually there, and it should be a great way of reading the view from the stands.

For those supporters with Twitter-enabled mobile devices (such as iPhones) who want to Tweet from the match, we suggest you use the hashtag #itfc (ie type that at the end of every Tweet), which should make your comments easy to find.

However, I know there are probably many supporters at the game who don't have Twitter posting capability on their mobiles but who would still like to post their comments for fans around the world to read. For this reason, we've created a dedicated Twitter account called @itfc_live which you can post to by email.

@itfc_live already has over 360 followers, and I'd encourage supporters anywhere in the world to ‘follow’ us to read live comments from the stands during games. For those supporters at the match, if you'd like to add your comments for the worldwide audience, details are at http://www.chrisrand.com/twtd/itfc_twitter.gif

In summary, if you're *AT* a match and want to make any observations, either use your own Twitter account with the hashtag #itfc or email to the @itfc_live account above.

If you're *not* at the match and want to make your thoughts findable, use your own Twitter account with the hashtag #itfc.

And if you want to follow matches on Twitter, follow @itfc_live now (go to http://twitter.com/ITFC_live and click "Follow") and set up a permanent search for #itfc (in Tweetdeck I cover all the bases with a search itfc OR itfc_live OR "ipswich town").

Good work Chris. I'm pretty new to Twitter but I think it could really come into its own for Town-related chat during matches. I'm not sure how the 3G coverage around FPR will hold up though.

Sweet, added both yourself Chris and itfc_live. My twitter is InfamousGreggyG. I moved from your neck of the words Cherry Hinton to Oakington 4 months ago. Good to hear about other Cambs based blues.

Good work, already following, but if I am not near a radio or not at the game it will keep me uptodate. Saves spending money on those goal text alerts.
