Burnley Linked With Garvan Move
Burnley Linked With Garvan Move
Friday, 28th Aug 2009 07:30

Town have received a £1 million bid from Premier League new boys Burnley for midfielder Owen Garvan, according to one of this morning’s tabloids.

Garvan is widely believed to be one of the players Roy Keane has told is unlikely to play for the club again.

The Irish U21 international is contracted to the Blues until June 2011.

If you followed RK's logic then it would be 4! That's his rule for our squad. He set the targets. He was a gamble. He's having a meltdown. He can't do the long patient game. Get a grown up who understands passing community club & I'll be as loyal as you. The crying shame is we have money so could pretty much get any boss here.

i personally think that he will do better with age. He is a good player and he will be like other players who hav left the club , if he leaves he will play against us and score against us. We shouldnt let him go cus were trying to expand the squad !!!

Duffers having an opinion that differs from your own does not make people whingers . Garvan has started one league game this season against the best side in the division alongside Trotter who has been poor in every game ,Healy has been very poor ,Martin has started every game and has not performed well why is it only Garvan being told he can leave ? He looked our best player when he came on against Coventry and Palace . As i have said before what other midfielder we have would anyone buy for £1 million ,most of them put together are not worth £1 million !!! Not whinging FACT

But has he had the chances?? He needs a run of games starting in the side....where he plays more advanced than just in front of back four. I think if the mangaer was to show him faith and let him know he has 5 or 6 games to show he can run the midfield (with a worker beside him) not only will his game flourish but i also think he will bring the best out of our forwards especially counago and we can then play some football and move up the table!!

Not sure to be honest, but I think he will be better in the premiership and if we do let him go I hope we will see a replacement for him.

He has had plenty of chances over the years , good passer yes , but other parts of his game are poor .
To be honest I'm not sure he has the bottle for it , which is why he hasn't developed his game more & might be why RK is willing to let him go , his whinge to the press won't have helped.
might be best for all parties for him to move on and the money will help RK bring in others that are needed

£1million for Garvan. Sounds like a good deal to me.

Get some money for him, it's obvious he is not a keane favourite.

the problem with Garvan, is he needs to have a free role, if he has this he is a fantastic player and will create and score goals himself. Unfortunately Keane doesn't seem to have this on his agenda of formations, so its best to cash in, its a shame, but in Keano, we should trust!

you can't sell garvan, he's one of our best young players with a big future ahead of him. He's the only one that can pick a pass

Well - A 1 mill for Gravan is great. I liked him throughout but these days he is not what he was. And that sort of money is perfect but I don't believe this to be honest. It will turn out to be 400,000 at the end?!

Sell him Keano. He has lost his way and 1million is a decent price for someone who loses the ball and vanishes during games!

Just shows that Owen Coyle is a manager that knows what he's doing.
Best of luck to Garvan, I don't know who I'll look forward to watching at Portman Road now.

I'll be sorry if he goes. Always thought he had the talent, but you can't remain a promising youngster for ever. He really hasn't made the final step up we expected.

He tried to get rid of Pablo - shouldn't have ! Now he wants rid of Gravan who has been and still could be one of ITFC's brightest prospects - Stead also looks as if he may be going - again a mistake ( he gives a 100%) and should be kept . It looks as if he is breaking up what could have been a very good team with just the odd addition. In Keane I do NOT trust !

garvan has to move for the good of his career, move to a team that actually uses
the midfield pasing the ball instead of the long ball c##p on offer at portman road

Unfortunately for Garvan's sake he should go. Coyle looks to be a manager that can spot real football talent and use it, so good luck to him and Burnley if it happens. I still hope it doesn't and Keane realises that the likes of Garvan and Pablo (who he also wanted shot of) and to a lesser extent Stead are the players that WE want to see playing football for us. Yes we want to win, but we also want to see proper football with passing rather than kick and hope that we are trying at the moment.

Owen Garvan has without a shadow of doubt the talent to be at the very top of this game. His only weakness is his own belief that he can do it. I am not entirely convinced that his mind is on a career in the game and he may join Supple...... I say grab the money and run....
