McClaren Linked
McClaren Linked
Sunday, 4th Oct 2009 09:03

Former England manager Steve McClaren is claimed to be the frontrunner to succeed Roy Keane as Town manager, according to one of this morning’s tabloids. McClaren is currently manager of Dutch side FC Twente.

Earlier in the week chief executive backed Keane despite the Blues’ disappointing start to the season, however, this morning’s report claims club owner and chairman Marcus Evans is less happy and that McClaren has been discussed as a possible successor to the Irishman.

It’s highly unlikely that Clegg was speaking purely for himself as is suggested rather than for Evans and the board as a whole and the story appears to be nothing more than tabloid rumour-mongering.

More Hillarity. Someone's 'avin' a larf here surely.
Expect more of this during the next 2 weeks of international break as the hacks dream up stories.

that MUST be a joke...except its not funny, that would be the last straw for many Town supporters, it cant be true ,i think F A rule is that managers can come from other countries BUT NOT FROM OTHER PLANETS .

Steve McClaren is actually a very good club manager.

Dale - are you Steve McClaren in disguise?
In reality, I would expect this just to be another tabloid cock-and-bull rumour.
If true, this will be the last season I have a season ticket at ITFC for the foreseeable.

No - I really don't want this to happen. I am certainly not impressed by Keane but I think a change of manager is not what we need - we have never been a sacking club and shouldn't start now. Stick by Keane, realise now that the best we can do is avoid relegation and then review it sensibly when a new manager has the summer to line up deals, clear the decks etc. I am sure that by January we will be mid table and though not pleased with the season optimistic (as we always are) about the next season.

We really do not need failures such as McClaren - I think we should return to bringing in proven lower league bosses than high profile questionable managers such as Keane, McClaren....

If this is true. I will still be an Ipswich supporter but I want go and see them anymore.

Replacing a manager after a handfull of games is not the Ipswich way.

For christ sake we gave Jim Magilton 3 seasons.

And yet everyone has got the knives out for Keane. I do hope he stays, he has the passion and commitment for the job.

He has to succed with Ipswich as I fear if not it would be his last shot at management.

He will take us to the Premiership...all the signs are there. We could of easily had 6 points from the last two matches if it wasnt for bad luck.

The luck will change soon.

We are Ipswich Town, and we support our club no matter what, through the good and bad times.

We do not expect instant success.

So come on boys and girls get behind Keano and the team

Romeo Zondervan.
The words of a sensible man.
I'm stopping using the forum on here until Town get a win.
Hopefully it won't be a long sabbatical - at least it'll give the moaners a break!

Roy won't be sacked - and if he is, Mclaren is not the man.

We seem to be playing reasonably well and hopefully results will start to flow soon!

If the wally with the brolly comes here im off to watch my local Sunday league!!
I feel sorry for Keano. Not his fault the team has let in a injury time goal for the third time!
If we won at Sheffield and drew at Barnsley nobody would on his case!
Fickle fickle fickle!

No more than an Evans ruse to flog blue and white ITFC brollies- don't panic he can't be that stupid, can he?

Nothing like like kicking a man when he's down! Being replaced by Steve Mclaren. F**K me if that waster came here we really would be a laughing stock.

Can't see it happening thank god.

IF Keane quits or gets the push then IMO then Curbs would be the man to give us success.

I still hope Keane will turn it round. But yesterdays result has me more worried than ever.

We all have to back Keane.

It doesnt matter if you think he is right for the job or not.

He is manager of Ipswich Town Football Club.

And I support Ipswich Town Football Club, regardless of whoever is in charge.

I remember when everyone yes I mean everyone was calling for Sir Bobby Robson when he took over at Ipswich and look what happened.

We cannot expect instant success. Its about time you moaners took stock, shut up and just got behind the team for once

Don't want to worry anyone, but i did notice an unusually high stock of umbrellas in the club shop recently.

he would be a high profile appointment, but unfortunately in the same way that any comedian would. I have visions of him arriving to his first press conference in a small car that all the doors fall off as he pulls up, whilst emerging wearing a top hat with a daffodil on top. ME please refute all connections with ITFC and this clown.

Keano is the future, time we let him know this i think.

please no, just no. he's awful you saw what he did to england. why isn't curbishley talked about. He comes and watches Ipswich he even moved to suffolk because he loves it around. Steve McClaren wouldn't be able to help us anymore than keane can.

for christ sakes, everyone was calling for magiltons head, then he got us in the playoffs from a terrinle start and gave him 3 seasons, and in my eyes keane is a far better manager than magilton, not only that sunderland were in a worse off position than us with just 1 point from 9 games and he didnt get them up by luck as people has said, thats ridiculous.KEANO KEANO KEANO!!!!!!
