McClaren Linked
McClaren Linked

Former England manager Steve McClaren is claimed to be the frontrunner to succeed Roy Keane as Town manager, according to one of this morning’s tabloids. McClaren is currently manager of Dutch side FC Twente.

Earlier in the week chief executive backed Keane despite the Blues’ disappointing start to the season, however, this morning’s report claims club owner and chairman Marcus Evans is less happy and that McClaren has been discussed as a possible successor to the Irishman.

It’s highly unlikely that Clegg was speaking purely for himself as is suggested rather than for Evans and the board as a whole and the story appears to be nothing more than tabloid rumour-mongering.

If the Star gets it's way Jorden(Katie Price) will be towns next Manager. This would certainly perk the team up with Peter Andre as chief scout or Mascot

Can't see Keane going anywhere he has a point to prove.

Why did we deserve to win the last 2 games ? Letting in goals in the last minute is the same as the first minute not bad luck just switching off defensively . It worries me that we are now pinning our hopes on the return of Norris and Civelli (two of Jims signings from his crap squad that Roy has had to overcome!!!!) to save us ,when most of last year Jim was slagged off for buying Norris as the biggest waste of money .Jim had the basis of a very good squad with experience that has been ripped apart and the results show that as does the league .Bruce ,Trotter and Quinn were not good enough for us last year and are now regulars with one even the captain ,this shows how far we have gone backwards. If he wanted to play with defensive midfielder with experience to help the back four out why the hell did he let Shumi or even Campo go ?
Cannot see Keanos game plan and if he does not find it soon it will be too late ,why not try Wright and Peters on the left together Martin is too weak to play under 11s football and give Garv another go someone who looks if they can actually pass and link with Counago

Nothing in this story, ME proved last time that no-one knew who he had lined up as hid new Ipswich Manager.
If and a very big if ME does get rid of Keano his replacement will already be lined up and a secret until the whole world finds out.
In Keano we trust get behind him and the lads.

ITFC DOM, getting better slowly !, sorry mate, the league dosent lie,,whilst i know RK did it once,it is rare to see teams in bottom positions come November, get far from that position at the end .At best we may avoid the drop, but did we bring Keane in for that purpose?.He will be gone soon, Burley and Butcher should be brought in ,BUT cant see that happening, unfortunately.Burley Forever ,i think RK has proved a point already, he came in as hard man with big ideas, but the ''tommy gun'' under his overcoat turned out to be a water pistol. We are going to really struggle,.

Whoever get him next will probably benefit from RK's time with us. Bet he won't get rid of or drop half a squad 2 games into the season again when he does move on. He probably won't run his mouth off in the press every 5 minutes either - from 'we're going to get promoted' to 'they'll never play for this club again'.

I'm sure ME, the most secretive man in business (& a communications business) loves having rent a quote at the helm & the public ridicule of this so far expensive failiure. Expect a 'Sky Sports breaking news, press conference at Ipswich Town' at any time. One's thing for sure, no way will ME will tip anyone off so forget the ginger dutchman (think the ex tottenham & WBA one). Expect a grown up - probably from the continent.

Im afraid theres only two men for the ipswich job and they are Roy Keane or George Burley. Give Keano more time. We dont wnat toe be one of these clubs who dump their manager after a poor start. Im as gutted as anyone and slightly unhappy with Keano so far but with time, surely he will get things right in the end!

I think this is disgraceful, talking about a successor to a manager who hasn't even been sacked yet, yes the awful start goes on but I still believe Keane is the man for the job, the only thing he could be criticised for is not bringing in better players. but he's got more pulling power than magilton. I think magilton left our club in an awful state and we are now paying the price. He was very vocal about how the qpr squad is much better than the 1 he left at ipswich, yet wasn't it him that assembled that squad? in a round about way is that the "great man" admitting just what a bad job he did as manager of our club? oh no I forgot he never made a bad signing. arrogant is an under statement

So many comments on a non story! I think Keane will have until Christmas and hopefully by then he will have turned things around....if not then we can start to speculate. As for McClaren it could be worse ...Steve Staunton ex Ireland manager!!!

NottsTractor....I have this nightmare that Evans will tell Clegg to go and get that Alan whatsisname who used to manage Charlton and Clegg will come back and tell him that Southampton want £2mil compensation.
