Town Linked With Bolton Midfielder
Town Linked With Bolton Midfielder

Town are keen on making a move for Bolton midfielder Gavin McCann, according to one of this morning’s tabloids.

The 31-year-old is currently out of the first team picture at the Reebok Stadium and manager Gary Megson is understood to be willing to allow the one-time England international to move either on loan now or permanently in January.

McCann hasn’t played for Wanderers since early October and was recently reported to be training with the reserves. The former Everton, Sunderland and Aston Villa man is out of contract next summer. Blackpool-born McCann’s one England cap came in a friendly in Spain in 2001.

On Friday morning, Town boss Roy Keane said that he doesn’t expect to make any more signings before the emergency loan deadline of November 26th, the deal to bring in Bohemians keeper Brian Murphy, which was confirmed on Friday afternoon, having been done back in August.

Elsewhere, on-loan defender Jack Ainsley was an unused sub as Rushden and Diamonds beat Hinckley 3-1 in the FA Cup on Saturday. Ainsley joined the Blue Square Premier side until January on Friday morning.

Fellow Blue Kevin Lisbie was rested by Colchester, despite Town giving permission for him to play in their FA Cup tie at Bromley. The U’s won 4-0.

GK - Wright (Dont Agree With Begovic, He's Done Really Well, But Harsh On Wrighty, He Was Our Best Player Until Begovic Came In.. Keepers Mistakes Are On Spotlight, But Defenders Can Get Away From It.)
RB - Rosenior
CB - Bruce
CB - McAualey
LB - D.Wright
RM - Edwards
CM - Norris (When He's Back) But For Now Peters.
CM - Leadbitter
LM - Martin
ST - Walters
ST - Priskin (GIVE HIM A CHANCE, HE'S A PROVEN GOALSCORER!)

Cant go wrong with this side.

I guess it's just another rumour, and if we have genuinely made an enquiry for McCann he probably won't want to come here anyway.
Keane is just cutting off his nose to spite his face with Garvan. He should be nurturing the most naturally gifted player at the club to get the best out of him and give the team a massive boost.
However I guess it's going to be one rather than both these Irishman that remain at the club long term. I hope it's Keane that goes.

Is there any more ex sunderland men out there that roy would like to sign? Remember how we used to slate charlton for signing half our team. We seem intent on doing the same with roys ex employers. As for midfield that would seem the least of our worries

Why are fans so obsessed with garvan I've seen him play twice this season against west brom and Scum res and both games IMO he has looked and played pretty bad to be fair rk can only go by what he sees in training and in games and when garvan starts performing and playing like he did early in magiltons reign I'm sure he will get a look in which I for one hopes is sooner rather than later

the team is right with walters in midfield and priskin up front with pabs or stead. its just a bit of luck we need to get started then we will fly up the table. garvan is to slow and does not play well week in week out as for people saying keane should spend more time helping him all i can say is, why???? he isnt a kid i would rather he spend that time with connor (someone that can help take us places).

counago and priskin upfront, jeez i cant stand stead, he's pooooooorrr. keep keane untill mid december, if no drastic improvement in league position, find someone else - curbishly. can't even risk being domoted to naaarwich standards of league1

Lightningboy - in response to your comment about Magilton wondering what he did wrong ... in my opinion, he probably didn't do a lot wrong. I think the problem was that one minute he was a player, one of the lads. The next he was managing those same lads, and I think that was always the key - there wasn't the "me boss, you player" sort of thing that you need for a sense of order and discipline. At QPR he has walked in straight as a manager, and because he never played with their squad, there isn't that same matey thing going on. He is the boss, and was so from day one. Easier to be a manager there, hence the better results etc. Not to mention the better squad he apparently inherited ....

Just my opinion, but plausible I think?

Gavin McCann???? Do me a favour!!! I generally feel our Midfield is doing ok at the moment and Norris isnt too far away, I know I said it in an earlier post, but I really think Leadbitter is loooking very very good, just gets let down by other players...I Just want to see a finisher as Priskin looks woeful, pablo is great at hold up and putting through killer passes but lacks the dynamism needed, stead is inconsistent and wickham wont get a chance methinks.

But after going on a bit of a tangent, no not Gavin McCann for me thanks.

UEFA81, Stop being an Idiot.

It was a change of manager that got us in this mess. Work out what's wrong and with time all will be good. Keep the faith. I'm sure your as big a Town fan as the rest of us, and opinion is needed either way, but stop going on about Keano OUT! Your getting on my tits!

McCann on Emergency Loan? take a look see, at least tide us over 'till Chuck returns. We need to bag some quick wins and take momentum into December. 10 Games unbeaten going into Christmas will help!

to all the people who want keane out. go and learn something about football then come back to comment. the team has a better shape than it has had in years we just need a good win and to get that a bit of luck is needed. then confidence will rise as our league position will.

Corshamblue you are dreaming away to Cardiff and Bristol City not a chance if we play as we have for the last 3 games .

Why wont Keane play Stead and Counago together ? Counago links and Stead is our only finisher .What chances has Stead missed that have been createdfor him ?Good finish sat and even better at Plymouth ,Priskin missed a one on one and a header unmarked from 4 yards out !!!

And as for Leadbitter being amazing why has he not been in any teams of the week if he is so amazing ? He looks ok because everyone else is so poor

bedsitfc: what team have you been watching? Better shape? The team may look on paper as though it has good shape, but on the pitch it doesn't, that's for sure.

That, and the fact that we can't keep possession to save our lives, are our two biggest problems.

FormerlyCGS added 11:30 - Nov 9
bedsitfc are you aving a laugh, cos u certainly made me laugh shape???? Its you that needs to go away and learn football! Once you have learnt the difference between winning and losing, 3 points and zero points then you can come back and comment!

Until then I think its best you stay away from here and stop making yourself lok like a twit!

I think it's fair to say Callum Garry doesn't have a clue. We clearly need a holding midfielder to win the ball and release Leadbitter more.

Surco, Leadbitter's one of the best midfielders we've had at the club in a long time. Either of you two actually going to games or are you just picking up your copies of the News of the World on a Sunday and posting your comments on here?

bedsitfc added 11:36 - Nov 9
it does have better shape, but your right we cant keep the ball as we should and we are missing chances but that is down to confidence rather than a poor team

naa added 11:41 - Nov 9
Keaneish, don't totally disagree. But I remember a major tactical change Burley made was when he was playing Williams and Holland as the central pair. Holland scored 15 goals a year and was the attacking midfielder and Williams was an excellent tackling midfielder.

He dropped Williams for Dyer. Holland still attacked, but hung back a bit more. We suddenly became a much more dangerous team - attacking being the best form of defence etc.

So, do we really need a holding player? In this division I'm not so sure we do.
0

bedsitfc added 11:53 - Nov 9
Naa - as good as matt holland was he was not as good attacking midfielder as dyer was that prob why we were more dangerous, having said that still think matt was great for us. but dyer was a better finisher and had the pace to get in behind.

Keanish i have been to every game this season home and away thanks, have you ?
Leadbitter is a good midfielder which i have stated many times before but for 3 million pounds how many games has he dominated this season ? How many chances has he created for others to score ? He doesnt need a holding midfielder next to him he needs a passing midfielder to allow him to make the runs . We have been playing most of the season with a holding midfielder or one that works hard and it does not work ,we are bottom of the league because we cannot break teams down we have only scored more than one goal twice all season!!!
And as for better shape against Plymouth,Derby and Reading we had no shape and no width and no pace Edwards taken off 3 games in a row ,left hand side looks awful slightly better with Jon boy there saturday but he is better on the right . Surely Keane should at least try Garvan as none of his solutions have worked so far this season ? We need to try anything
