Stern Delighted to Be At Town Friday, 27th Nov 2009 17:15
New loan striker Stern John says he is coming to Town to play games and score goals. The Palace frontman is with the Blues until December 29th but isn’t eligible for the game against the Eagles on Boxing Day.
John told the club site: "I'm delighted to be here and it's a great opportunity for me to play some games and hopefully score some goals.
"I have worked with the manager in my time at Sunderland and I know what he's about, what he wants from his players. I have also played with Carlos Edwards and Grant Leadbitter and it always helps when you move to a new club and know some of the players.
"From what I have seen of Ipswich, the team is playing well but it's just in front of goal where things have not gone quite right. Hopefully I can come in and get in the box, get some chances and score goals."
The 109-times capped Trinidad and Tobago international says he could stick around beyond the initial month: "Anyone that comes to this club is going to want to stay. The facilities are fantastic and I'm looking forward to my month here.
"The players have made me feel very welcome and we will see how things work out over the next month. For now all I'm thinking about is Sunday and helping Ipswich beat Cardiff."

Sounds keen! Has a wealth of experience and will hopefully be able to bang in a few goals and help get us out of the mess we are currently in.
Paulbahrain - Being ex Sunderland can only be a good thing at the moment. Having played with some of the players before should help him slot in more easily and hopefully get things firing. John and Edwards must have played together at least 70 tiomes for Trinidad and Tobago and this can only really be a good thing.
i dont see why there is a problem with some people on here with keane bringing in some ex sunderland players. carlos edwards and grant leadbitter are the two best signings ive seen in a wile ! and despite some people thinking he is past it or w.e, i think stearn john is an exellent addition. he will create so many chances and priskin and co. will be able to play off him. hopefully he will chip in with a couple aswel. good luck stern, right behind you !
Good luck Stern John, let's hope this move works out.
As for the ex-Sunderland players, Leadbitter has looked good (as he should for £3m!), Edwards has been a bit disappointing (£1m for a player who is now 31 years old), Healy was a waste of money and Colback hasn't featured much.
as with all signings lets give him a chance we need something and this is, he is a proven goal scorer with natural ability - something we have not had in front of goal for a long time good luck stern (still think this is keanos last throw of the dice) come on you blues
Of course he's happy coming here--no one else wants him and he's not fit either.Total desperation --no other players want to play for Roy Keane they can see what happens when you are out of favour(Counago,D.Wright,Garvan etc). I've had enough of seeing such boring football--not just losing--after supporting for 50 years.
