Wright Wants New Deal
Wright Wants New Deal
Thursday, 10th Dec 2009 21:54

Full-back David Wright wants to stay at the club beyond the end of his current contract in June. Wright says his family are happy in Suffolk and that he loves the club.

The former Wigan and Crewe man told the club site: "It can play on your mind when you have only got six months left on your contract.

"When it hits you is when you get asked to put down your children's names down for school, things like that. Not knowing my future is a bit scary. Not knowing my kids' future is worse.

"If things don't go as I hope they do, then I'm going to have to uproot the family and try and get them settled somewhere else and the whole process starts again.

"So that's what plays on your mind, but that's another part of the game. You have to get on with it and I can't let it affect me.

"I have to play well, work hard and stay in the team and hopefully that will bring its rewards because I definitely want to stay here. I love the club. I love the area and so do my family."

Wright joined the Blues from Wigan for a fee of around £200,000 in January 2007.

Great to hear one of our players saying he loves the club. When was the last time we heard that? Compare this to what an idiot like Kevin Lisbie has been saying in recent weeks! Wrighty is a top pro and didn't deserve the treatment he got early in the season. Sign him up!

He seems like a top bloke as well as being a model professional. Most footballers don't seem to realise what it means to the fans when they say they 'love the club'. Wrighty is a true blue. Sign him up Keano!

And remember being played out of position! He's had his nose disjointed by Rosenior and Simpson loan deals in recent seasons yet just gets his head down and got on with it. Ledge!

Definitely worth a new deal. One of Magilton's best signings. Wright should never have been dropped earlier in the season; to think Smith played ahead of him at left-back one match! A model professional

Well, he's saying the right things and the practicalities of his family, etc, is interesting as it adds a human aspect... I think he's pretty ordinary to be honest but is dong okay at LB. To be fair to him, he's more comfortable at RB but LR is a better option in my view. Depending on the details of the deal, I'd be more inclined to give him a deal than when we gave Bruce a deal.

Model professional who always give 110%, vocal on pitch and does put up to score important goals. Committed to club both verbally and in performance and is a no brainer for re-signing. Do this deal now.

A good solid player. Puts his heart into the game and the club. I wish we had more players like him. Keano leaving him out of the squad earlier in the season was one of the main reasons I doubted Keane at the time. His re-inclusion (along with Delaney at CB) has been one of the main reasons we have kept so many clean sheets.
Offer him a new contract Roy.

BJC, sounds like a budgie in disguise. Delighted if D Wright signs another year, always gives 100% and has the right attitude. COYB.
