John's Loan Spell Extended
John's Loan Spell Extended
Friday, 1st Jan 2010 16:32

Striker Stern John’s loan from Crystal Palace has been extended until January 30th. The frontman’s new spell starts with immediate effect and the Trinidadian international is available for Saturday’s FA Cup tie at Blackpool.

The 33-year-old made four appearances for the Blues in his first month at Portman Road, but is yet to score.

With Jon Stead suspended, John is likely to start at Bloomfield Road on Saturday. The Town squad are flying up to the North-West this evening.

Yesterday, manager Roy Keane revealed that Sunderland had agreed to allow Jack Colback to remain with the club until the end of the season.

Haven't seen much of John to get too excited about - no pace, no goals, and apparently has dodgy knees & can't train too much. Holds the ball up well and lays it off quite well. Much the same as Pablo, who ought to be ashamed to wear the No. 9 when he's hardly ever scored a strikers quota of goals in his career. Time for Priskin to come in & show us that he's not a waste of money. Having seen that Youtube of him at Watford, I reckon he has all the necessary attributes, but just needs some confidence.

Sadly these days there always has to be somebody that the crowd gets after. Would you be happy to do your own job to the accompaniment of all the moaning that goes on these days? Lisbie - never given a chance. Delaney and McAuley - funnily enough now part of a solid defence despite all the "must go" moaning earlier in the season. Priskin - well he has not really played much far less had a decent run in the side.

Stern John has plied his trade at various clubs in the 1st and 2nd divisions for some years. He is precisely the sort of experienced goalscorer that could help us at a time when we are painfully short of goals. As a goalscorer who looks like he can hold the ball up he may not be the type who runs around like a headless chicken all the time. He will be judged by goals. The 6-yard-box is his place.

Are Town fans today so unsophisticated that they cannot see this? And if Lisbie comes back is he going to get booed and the same kind of stick as before? Not very constructive is it?
