Keane Frustrated By Another Draw
Keane Frustrated By Another Draw
Saturday, 6th Feb 2010 19:16

Boss Roy Keane was frustrated that the Blues recorded yet another draw - their 15th in the league this season - as the home game with Middlesbrough ended 1-1. However, the Town manager conceded that it was a fair result.

Keane said: "Our performances generally haven't been too bad but it's another draw and draws don't get you anywhere fast.

"When you look back at all the draws we've had we might have been better to lose half and win the other half.

"Somebody must be making money out of us by predicting draws every week and we shouldn't begrudge them that.

"But this was a typical Championship game. Both teams had chances, it finished 1-1 and we all go home. Boring."

The Blues boss felt his side needed a better final ball: "Scoring goals has been a problem for us all season.

"In the second half we got in some really good positions but we just needed the final ball. The final ball is the most important one in football.

"If you look at what happens between the two boxes we do reasonably well. But what goes on in the boxes is what life's all about.”

Keane was pleased with his two new loanees: "It was a great start for us, the perfect start and we looked comfortable for the first half.

"It was a good ball in from David and Murph did well to get on the end of it. But we needed a second goal, particularly in the Championship where teams can score from set-pieces and we saw that again today.

"Middlesbrough gave us a few scares in the second half and, after they scored, they had the momentum, so the result was probably about right.

"I was fairly pleased with our performance generally. It was a disappointing goal to concede but we defended fairly well against a decent side.

"It was a risk putting David and Murph in because they've not had a lot of football and Jon Walters, who has been out with a hamstring injury and hasn't trained much, but they came through well.

"I was delighted with the two new lads, they linked up well and their fitness levels were excellent but we have another game on Tuesday and we will have to be careful with them."

Middlesbrough boss Gordon Strachan also felt a draw was the correct outcome: "I thought it was a fair result. Ipswich were the better team in the first half.

"We were getting used to a right-back playing in the middle of the park and a left-back playing on the left of midfield.

"We weren't ready for that type of game, with so many new players, and it was unsettling.

"Had it been a nice simple, passing game we might have been all right and we'd have settled in but it was ferocious to start with.

"The fact we then went a goal down so early on threw the guys who were playing out of position into a bit of shock.

"But our mental strength got better as the game went on. We showed we can play but we have to learn to be more professional in the first couple of minutes.

"Sometimes when a team score early on it's a brilliant goal and you can't do anything about it.

"But with this one we were so embarrassed, down the left-sided area, that we crumbled. It took us until half-time to settle everyone down."

Agree. Very frustrating. We should have won this game. What a shame we didn't press on after a superb start. Story of the season though.

YAWN YAWN YAWN........I totally agree with you derbytractoryboy, this bloke hasnt got a bloody clue.....i think taking wright off and putting colback as left back just about sums up the muppets ineptness as a manager of our football club.
Bring back Burley, this bloke should move from aldeburgh back to manchester......

keane just says the same stuff over and over again, like when he said he took positives from the preston match.
everyone can say what a bad manager magilton was but he never put our club in the trouble we are in now! 1 point off relegation zone with 4 away games on the spin, i fear the worst already
sack this clown and bring back burley :D

really naaridge yet lots think it was an unexpected move but a good one. Listening to the commentry it was Colkbeck on the line, it Colbeck clearing the ball and it was Colbeck getting forward. Seems you're the muppet and don't have a clue, like a lot of others on this site.....Frustrating result today yes but it's done and dusted, now we got to think about QPR and 3 points which is quite doable.

Keane is the most overated manager in this division.
I really fear for us now what with four away games. WE ARE NOT TOO GOOD TO GO DOWN!!!
Keane just had a lucky season with Sunderland...Oh and 80 million quid!

Compare us to Forest. we played them at PR in the early stages of the season when there was only only as few points between us, we both were pretty crap and it finished 1-1. Now compare us!! They have pushed on and are in 3rd place, we have not moved on at all since that game and are STILL in the bottom four!

Wake up people, we are rubbish, if we were any good we would be up there with the big boys, you can't keep blaming poor luck blah blah blah!! As in life you make your OWN luck!

Candyshop you are clearly deluded my friend.......this team ' not far away '.... yes, not far away from relegation ! And there is nobody in our team I would describe as 'superb'...... we are in trouble, keep drawing and im afraid it will all end in tears !

how come keane reckons championship teams are always going to score from set -pieces .does that mean we should be scoring more from them? and if we are,nt why not? its the managers fault if we are notscoring from set-pieces...looks like we probably going to be lucky if we stay up .forget about promotion for several years the keane experiment is a failure.we should have got a decent manager with a proven track record of getting teams promoted.not a trainee celebrity manager who is still learning the business.he may be ok in several years but thats no good to town . after the first six games the bloke should have got the boot..now it maybe to late.....

15 draws is no good to anyone West Brom summed it up for me,4 mins of extra time has just been given,we get the ball down to the corner flag, what do we do rather than cross it in,try and waste a bit of time,we then lose control, they hoof it up the pitch, score to bring it to 1-1 thank you very much!
I knew we would hash it up yesterday at 1-0 we were either going to get a draw or lose,we still have'nt got that killer touch, although i was very pleased of Murphy and Healy.

Add to most of the comments above, that i cant help but agree with,The fact that 1 or 2 pathetic idiots in the North/Bobby Robson stand won the most disgusting chant of this or any other season!! aimed at Liroy Lita. Lita's mother apparantley passed away recently. I would like to offer my condolences to him and apologise for those morons. Not much fun after the first minute at Portman Rd.

What has happened on here since the game is a disgrace to our club - Yes we won't get up but we won't go down either. Talk about RATS and SINKING SHIPS - I'm embarassed to read all this stuff this morning.....call yourselves supporters. Very sad.

supporter

• noun a person who supports a sports team, policy, etc.

Just went to the Oxford English Dictionary for this.....

Bluelass is right, perhaps you should go to this site as well and see the definition of whinge.
For those of you too lazy to do so, and too lazy to actually go to PR, i have done it for you.

whinge
Brit. informal

• verb (whingeing) complain persistently and peevishly.

• noun an act of whingeing.

– DERIVATIVES whinger noun.

– ORIGIN Old English.

Being a supporter does not mean we have to put a positive spin on everything. Roy Keane has seriously underperformed as manager. Am I disloyal for stating the obvious? He inherited a team that was just outside the top six. His first comments after being appointed manager was his surprise at how much quality there was in the squad. Well, he's spent heaps of money since then. Most Championship managers would kill for the resources he's been given. Yet here we are just above the relegation zone. I'm sick of Roy Keane's platitudes after every game — how we lack the killer instinct, no potency around goal, silly defensive errors, lack of quality with our set pieces etc. etc. Well Roy, you're the manager. Isn't that what you're paid a lot of money to fix?
0

bennyblue added 11:39 - Feb 7
exactly.the problem is roy is not good enough to fix it he will only take us down ..oh and for the people living in fairyland i am a town born town supporter not a roy keane supporter though i would gladly cheer him on if he was any good at his job but he is,nt

AJblue added 11:48 - Feb 7
Nowhere have i said you need to put a positive spin on anything....You people see things that just arent there...

All i state is to be a supporter you get behind your team, for better or worse.
You dont have to like the situation, but just pissing and moaning does no good and in fact does harm.

Frustrated, disappointed and cheesed off, the way i feel this morning at yet another dropped 2 points, however i wil be there yet again and be hoping that this time its 3 points.

I am not a blind optomist, i just do what i can as a supporter, and thats cheer the team on, to bigger and better things.
Whingeing about how bad YOU feel is at best selfish, as all Town fans are disappointed, but most still get behind the team.
Thats all i am saying

I have never left a game early, and never booed an ipswich player, so therefore would consider myself a "supporter", but what is the point of a message board if you can't come on here and point out a few glaring problems that the team / club are having (lack of quality, leadership, training, any clue whatsoever about where we're heading, etc etc). The terraces might not be the place, but on here is, surely

We really should have won this game. Boro were completely average and came with a gameplan to get a draw. Did Keane actually have hid own gameplan or tactics to counter this? I think not. Any other manager with a a bit of nouse would ensured the victory. I can't see Reading below us staying there and anything less than 6 points away to QPR & Sheffield Wednesday we are in deep trouble and Keane has unfortunately got to go.

The chant at next match should be '' COME ON ROY...SAVE US IF YOU'R MAN ENOUGH .'' i have not been on RKs back for a good while, but he is failing to achieve STILL, and enough is enough .R K , in my opininion was never the man for the job, and despite all the crap dished out at people who critisise him,i still do not think he is .He ,as a person seems to have mellowed since being at Town ,but he is going nowhere here as a manager. We are now struggling just as predicted, i will now get slagged off, ironically by the same people who said we will be top 4 by Christmas !
