Former Loanee Writing Book
Former Loanee Writing Book
Monday, 8th Mar 2010 11:13

Former Town loanee Danny Karbassiyoon has revealed that he’s writing a book about his experiences in English football. The American, made four starts and two sub appearances for the Blues during a four-month spell on loan from Arsenal from late 2004 into 2005, was forced to retire from the game due to a knee injury aged 22 in 2007.

Karbassiyoon, who these days is a scout for the Gunners back in the US, feels he has a different take on life in the British game: “You read leading players’ books and it’s wonderful to read of rises from poverty to riches, but I was a middle class American kid just trying to make it as a footballer.

“I never achieved the wealth that people might think every soccer player amasses when they start out for Arsenal or Manchester United.

“I’d like to educate people, around the world but especially Americans, on the daily basis of being a pro, and the hardships and great feelings alike that you get when representing clubs like the three I did — Arsenal, Burnley and Ipswich Town. It’s coming along well, and hopefully I’ll have some news about its completion fairly soon.”

Very surprised the EADT haven't picked up on this , even with all the shananigans over the cat stuck in the tree in Needham Market.

If Americans are waiting to be educated on playing for an english club, I suspect they will wait a little bit longer for Brad Friedels book, for example.

So he retired at 22 and is writing a book on his experiences in English football? pretty short read i reckon, "i came to england as a hungry 16 year old keen to show that englands cousins from across the pond can play soccer.....i mean football as good as them, got signed by Arsenal on a scolarship....i mean youth contract. After never appearing for Arsenal i decided i needed regular games so i chose to go on loan to a team in the coca cola championship called Ipswich Town where i played 5 matches, i also represented Burnley for 5 matches then i had to retire due to a knee injury and then became a scout"
The End

i think this is a fairly good shout at the content of his book....

ITFC1985, you missed the chapter about where he didn't make much money in his 10 game career. I actually just googled him and there was some report on an ESPN website where he says he came on at Old Trafford (for Arsenal) in front of 68,000 people and 64,000 of them started singing "who the f***ing hell are you"... fair play to him though, hope it works out, let face it he must be doing an OK job on his PR if the media over here have got wind of it (whether it's a nothing story or not). But I am of a similar opinion, the book probably won't be a classic or much longer than the infamous "Famous French War Victories". :-)
