U21s Skipper Taylor Set For Cheltenham Loan
Monday, 1st Sep 2025 18:11

Cheltenham Town are set to sign Blues U21s skipper Tom Taylor on loan.

The League Two Robins already have young central defender Jacob Mazionis on loan for the season and, according to Gloucestershire Live, Taylor is set to join him at Whaddon Road.

Forward Taylor, 20, was on the bench for the first team on two occasions last season without making a senior appearance.

Chelmsford-born Taylor has been with the clubs since he was a 10-year-old, winning Academy Player of the Year in 2024/25.

Taylor’s contract was up at the end of last season but the Blues took up an option for a further year.

Another good loan move for one of our promising academy players. Its great to see that the youngsters showing promise are going to League 2 clubs and above to get some really good experience

Leeds recently posted extended footage of the u21 game against town at Leeds a few days ago. Town were in many parts impressive especially this lad who scored two goals, hoping this works for him and us he looks a real asset for the future

I am glad that we are developing Tom, having watched him over the past 2 seasons, he is a decent prospect and certainly strong enough to survive in League 2.
The fact that we extended his contract shows the club can see growth in his future.

A good move...yes. However he is 20 and needs to be around our 1st team by now surely or move on. Harsh but surely that is reality?
