Keane Speculation Starts Again
Keane Speculation Starts Again
Thursday, 18th Mar 2010 09:00

Tuesday’s defeat at Watford again has the tabloids speculating that Roy Keane’s time as Town manager may come to an end sooner rather than later. One report this morning claims Keane and Marcus Evans will hold talks before the end of the season.

Town’s owner and chairman is said to be less than impressed with the Blues’ position in the table and with the style of football, while players are claimed to be unhappy with Keane’s management.

Reports that Keane’s time as manager would be coming to an end have appeared fairly regularly throughout the season, particularly during the long winless run, with chief executive Simon Clegg previously giving the Blues boss his and Marcus Evans’s backing.

However, Evans is unlikely to have been impressed with the Blues struggles at the wrong end of the table this season, having invested significant sums to help Town into the Premier League.

I suspect it is more likely an ex-player who no longer receives the fawning of previous regimes that has spread tittle-tattle to a tabloid - file it under'fiction'.

With two of our most important games of the season to come this is not the time for the Club to rock the boat.

"No real news today then lets make something up...I know RK is going to be sacked lets say ME is unhappy and the players don't like him!"

"But the players keep coming out saying how they do like playing for him in fact many players saying he is the reason they came here. And on top of that ME doesn't talk to us and Clegg has given RK his backing."

"Look mate first rule of journalism never let facts get in the way of a good story."

Could it just be that Keane is right. We have a history of not turning up at away games. The players are often gutless. Its refreshing to hear that they have been told a few home truths. If they dont want to play then get out. Give him his 2 years and we will be fine

Totally agree with Devon Tractor Boy - enough is enough. I cannot remember us playing this badly since the John Duncan days !

Mr Keane has bought badly and will not have a settled side. What he did to Owen Garven at Watford on Tuesday if it true that he was not injured is just wrong.
If we win on saturday and again on Tuesday, know doubt he will be once again raising hopes of a late challenge for the play-offs.
Curbs please

If it is true that Keanes position is being considered then it does make sense that it is being looked at now, it was only a few more weeks on this time last year when Magilton got the boot and it gives a new manager time to come in, evaluate the squad and has a real input on what is needed. I'm maybe starting to lose the faith a little, but still have a feeling (hope that's not blind delusion) that Keane will get it right next season! However, whilst Keane is still in charge, and some (if not many) are in the Keane out brigade ALL of us need to get behind the team at games and help motivate. Hopefully Watford is just a blip in what I was hoping to be the turning point.

i don't know how fans can have faith in keane either, I have a season ticket and will be renuing next year but I cannot stand keane and will not be getting behind him but i will be getting behind the lads on the pitch wearing blue and white! I havent seen a town team going in decline like this in a long time and i think if we stay with keane i could see us getting relegated next year. People saying if keane goes and the ex sunderland players go is absolute rubbish, if there getting paid their money they wont care who the manager is! wake up town fans the table dosen't lie and our performances and season has been embarassing to say the least
KEANE OUT!

we are further away from promotion than we have been in a long time.R K has done nothing to indicate any better to come, a lost year, he reckoned promotion to Prem in two seasons. From a team that were always in the hunt, he has produced a ''team'' that may just be fortunate enough to survive this season .We will then go into summer disjointed, looking to another season starting from scratch. We have gone through the season with various deadlines suggested for R K to turn things around, and spectacular revivals forecast after each of our rare wins. Do we want another season of the same, i dont thats for sure, .

Whatever we all think and whatever the Press (very of whom RK would call friends) may say the fact of life is that Mr Evans owns the club and the decisions on whether to sack RK or stick with him will be down to whatever is best for Mr Evans business interests which, one would hope are to see ITFC as a very successful football club.
Personally I was surprised but not very happy that RK had appointed because we as supporters are accustomed to be the underdog who shuns the spotlight but speaks with performances on the field and not in the Press box. I would normally feel more than a bit sorry for RK the way the scum Press are on his case but as it can be sen he can more than hold his own in the verbal stakes and must be thick skinned - looking at his history as a player.
I hope whatever Mr Evans does is good for ITFC but I fear that persisting with RK will mean a long and tortuous climb (or maybe even relegation) but we have to hope.
