Broadhead and Burns in Wales Squad
Wednesday, 29th May 2024 11:12

Town duo Nathan Broadhead and Wes Burns have been named in the Wales squad for their June friendlies, alongside departing loanee Kieffer Moore.

Wales face Gibraltar in the Algarve, Portugal on Thursday 6th June and Slovakia in Trnava on Sunday 9th June.

The matches are preparation for the UEFA Nations League campaign which gets under way in September with the Welsh facing Iceland, Türkiye and Montenegro.

Broadhead, 26, has won 11 full caps, scoring twice, while Burns, 29, has played for his country on six previous occasions.

Moore, 31, who spent the second half of the season on loan with the Blues is also in the party having won 41 caps previously and having netted 12 international goals.

When was the last summer Wes and Broady had off? They always seem to be playing for Wales

It was just over two years ago that Broady made his Wales debut. At that time some Welsh fans tweeted that they shouldn't be picking League One players.

Same player now lads, just the premier league version.

Premier League has bigger squads and play less league games than the divisions below, yet they are moaning about how tired their players are……….so let’s play even more games before pre season training.

I have an idea

Why not have a European cup and play home and away and the highest aggregate score goes on to the next round………..o wait

It’s all about money….maybe don’t pay the players £100,000 pounds per week and you would not need so much

Don't think Broadhead will be over tired he wasn't always selected by McKenna and Burns had quite a long lay off with a hamstring injury so i wouldn't be overly concerned. Both will probably be impact players Burns getting more game time than Broadhead being physically stronger than Broadhead who is lightweight and tends to get knocked off the ball easily.

the fact that Moore hasn't been mentioned for next season is significant
